For me it happens only if i move the analog during the countdown before the loading screen, when i move the analog (or dpad) it makes the sound that you hear when you scroll through the menus and it gives me a different bike.
If i choose the donkey in the first place it will not change if i move the analog.
I have experienced this in supercross and trials matches.

I have never experienced this (maybe played around 100 games online) but I can understand it most be annoying.

this just happened to me but it ended up to be funny. I was playing Trials, got to the 3rd match, tribal trouble came up so i chose the phoenix naturally. I got into the match and i was on a donkey bike and against a phoenix and a scorpion. Luckily i went on to no fault and win the round (which was the funny part) and as i had won the other 2 races the match.

maybe some lag issue or packet loss, out of sync with host, so while your loading the host is still waiting, so when you move the stick it changes on the host side before the host has started up proper.

This issue has been fixed and will be in the next patch.

Current workaround is to NOT touch D-pad or left stick after pressing A to select the bike.
