so last night i was trying to reach the magical 22 million. i was only ~11k short in points. i played Under Construction and beat my old time by about 3-4 seconds (somewhere around that figure anyways). this took me to about 22,006,000 points.
i then checked how many points 200th place had got. it was around 22,020,000 points. now been as taking a few seconds off Under Construction netted me about 17k, i assumed turning my 0 fault Gold on the tourney Destroyed Beauty into a Platinum run would get me above 200th place in the globals.
took me about 30 minutes to nail the tourney, beating my old time by a huge 38 seconds. man i was pleased. i just sat there and soaked in the joy for bit, and then went to the Globals, feeling like a kid on Xmas Eve. what position would i be? how many points would i now have?
turns out... nada. 38 seconds meant nothing. turning a Gold in to Platinum meant nothing. hmmmm. i remember Elements1992 complaining about something similar in another thread.
so i'm just wondering why knocking a few seconds off a track time is worth more than knocking 38 seconds off a tourney?
surely everyone agrees there should be more reward for knocking 38 seconds off a tourney time and turning it from Gold into Platinum? anybody got any maths for me on how this works?
PS my figures might be a bit off but they are round about right.
sounds a bit weird, ask for a refund, that works
I feel you.. I zero faulted fantastic voyages from 1 to 0 and i was expecting at least 100k points but it only gave me around 50k WTF???!
I would have assumed that tourneys gave you more points for improving than a single track too.
Sorry to be negative but you know how I feel about Evo at the mo Ben1Bob.
It's just the more time I spend with Evo, the more I find wrong with it and this is just another thing to add to my long list.
yup, the tourney scoring system is definitely weird. hoping a dev will let us in on how it works.Originally Posted by WiredHeat1099

MegaTrain and I have already figured out the scoring system, he's just working on assembling the spreadsheet to his liking. I've got my own spreadsheet, but it's not formatted like how he does the Trials HD spreadsheet. I don't want to post mine because then we're just stepping on each other's toes.
We've got a thread on the scoring system but it's probably scrolled off the main page already. The title is something about finalizing a global score spreadsheet. The tournaments score pretty much identically to how the extremes score.
Ben, if I plug in on Destroyed Beauty an initial time of 3:18, the score is 336,894. Taking off 38 seconds to get a platinum of 2:45 (plat itself is 2:46.530), the new score is 341,595. But that is only a gain of +4,700 points. Unless you were writing your global score down before and after that's hard to see in your global score! I took 5 seconds of my Ascent score yesterday and gained 8,000 pts, so it certainly feels like the reward for effort isn't as balanced as we would likeI'd consider 38 secs off a tourney to be worth a lot more than 4,700!
Also, WiredHeat, taking Fantastic Voyages from 1 fault to 0 using times from gold to plat gives a gain of about +65,000 to +70,000. Not 100k+, but definitely much closer to the 50k you eyeballed.
Eventually we'll get a spreadsheet up then you guys can play with the raw numbers until your heads explode![]()
If all that is true then the tourneys I have left to platinum can piss off.
Already ripped out enough hair doing them so far and if all you get is a measly amount of points then I'm not putting in the effort.
thanks for that Grant. i knew my estimations were a little bit off and what you've said sounds totally correct. and yes, i wasn't writing down my gobal score before and after... just using my (not so great) memory!Originally Posted by GrantR
i bet it's too late for RL to change the scoring system for tournaments but it does seem to be scant reward for so much effort. o well, back to going for top track times then![]()
can't wait for that spreadsheet as well...
Beat my time on WOTN by 15 seconds and got under 1,000 pts. Speed running tournaments and extremes gives you very little or so it would seem![]()
