On the forum, I don't know (don't spend a whole lot of time here), in webchat however I think I have the general traits of most regulars pretty much nailed. I've worked for 6-7 years as a professional poker player, online only. When you do something like that for so long, you HAVE to learn to read people, construct a personality for them, find out what mood they're in etc. Basically you have to be a good stalker, and I've definitely picked up a thing or two from this odd line of work over the years.

We're all wrong sometimes with first impressions, especially online where forming a first impression takes longer than irl. But I think even online, first impressions are more often right than not. I loosely categorize people like NonRedOrchid wrote, i.e if someone has incredibly bad grammar and/or txt speak, I might start to think of them as slightly inferior in some way if they just blatantly overdo it. After all, in a world that relies on written words alone, the way you say things becomes twice as important.

You type kind of poorly although you could obviously do better and I applaud you for that. I reward you zero (0) pretension points. I have a very clear picture of you in my head, you remind me of a guy I went to school with. He was a perfectionist, but not in the same sense that I am. Always liked him.

That's a flawed way of going about judging people, but when you have nothing else to go on I guess it makes sense. I don't do it here, but I often deliberately type like an idiot simply because I want to confuse/annoy people (not saying the way I type here is perfect but it's definitely sufficient). Maybe it's also because I don't want to seem like a try-hard. I see a lot of people all over the internet trying to look intelligent by using big words and ending up failing miserably.

The initial impression I got when I joined back in '09 was that everybody on these forums (at the time) were all friends and helped each other out. In fact, my first post I believe was a thread titled "I like you guys....".

Since then I've found out that some (very few) people do not fit into that, but I can deal with those.

I wear my heart on ky sleeve now im older as i was a wanker when i was younger..im not judgmental,as i think this is a horrible trait..one chance at making first impressions is all we get..people that are constantly negative over other peoples efforts,need to snap out of it..i think that to many people on here think they can give good, constructive feedback,when they obviously cant..there are only a few people on here i would ever ask as i know they will be honest as well as know wot they are talking about..lastly,depends on peoples posts etc is how i build a profile of people...arrogance, i have no time for in the world..nother horrible trait...im an open book people.. hope i come across as ive described....
