......can you have the rider be in a different orientation? as in can you have the rider + bike apear somewhere else say upside down? i have sussed out some realy cool stuff in the editor but for the life of me i cant get how to teleportany help here would be fantastic.
Player Event set to either "reset to checkpoint" or "reset to driveline". Not sure about changing orientation though.
There should be an option in the checkpoint properties for custom respawn to change the orientation of your rider at that checkpoint.
thanks. i have seen these but was hoping there was other things i could do like OPE or something. never mind, time to play with logic and checkpoints then![]()
It would save us some splaining if you said "is there a way to blah blah blah other than blah blah blah...". Eliminate options so we can think of the others (if there are any).Originally Posted by BERTANDERNY![]()
i imagined the reset to checkpoint would be diff to a teleport. as in not using the CP at all and having it happen at any point of my liking. i didnt mention the checkpoints because at the time of typing, they had no relevence (in my head anyway lol) and i had just turned of the editor from a 4 hour sesh so prob wasnt being very......to the point, if you know what i mean![]()
I just uploaded a track that has a lot of wall and ceiling riding ("Spin Cycle") and had to contend with this issue. I tried MANY different things, and had to compromise in some ways, but I eventually got something working. Some things of note:
1. Custom checkpoint position only gives you an option to raise and lower the bike, not reorient on any axis. You CAN use a CP on a wall if it is not exactly at 90 degrees, though the CP itself is not likely to register as you pass it. I tried it just as a waypoint to send the driver to using "Reset to Checkpoint." But Reset to CP also adds a fault, so there is that. Checkpoints on ceilings are pretty much a non-starter.
2. Reset to driving line may work better, but it can be a bit finicky as well. It can cause problems with physics that are nearby -- even breaking some joints.
It sounds like you might be doing something similar to my track, so take a look at it and let me know if you have any questions about how I did something.
got a work around. more of a cheat realy. i wanted to teleport at the start of a skill game but as you said a CP move doesnt change rotation just hight. i needed my rider to fall off the bike but if the bike doesnt turn upside down he just hangs on it. what i did in the end was auto control the bike to the point i wanted and auto lean backwards out of sight of the player. this way i can still have my guy fall off in the direction i want and it actualy gives the start of the game a cool feel to it. thanks for everyones input tho![]()
Sounds like a cool way to solve the problem!
Isn't great when a compromise turns out to be better than what you were looking for in the first place?
