Yeah, I've seen much worse lag too. My point was that it seemed like something that probably could have been fixed. What was causing the lag? Only thing I could think of was maybe you didn't set objects off the driving line to decoration only.
The loop I didn't mind, it was how the planks/boards didn't line up that well and appeared to be floating that bothered me.
It was a combination of things. I didn't set the background objects to decoration only ( I actually forget about that technique all the time) and the mist that coves the ground can cause slowdown when used in abundance. I think I used 3 or 4 total.Originally Posted by Luthanick
There's one spot where the planks don't line up but it doesn't affect the smoothness of the actual driving but I know what you mean. If you look closely, you'll notice the wooden supports underneath the planks in the loop area. I didn't want it to be floating so I threw something underneath itOriginally Posted by Luthanick![]()
Yeah, setting to decoration when the objects will be within the physics bubble might have eliminated all the lag. Maybe not all of it, but it would make it better either way.
I didn't notice the supports, which I why I mentioned themthat's good that you at least put them in. Driving line was mostly smooth, I was talking about the visual aspect of the driving line.
Also, I was able to get #1 on the leaderboard by using the Phoenix on "Don't Be Afraid." This proves that the track is perfectly drivable with either the Phoenix or the Scorpion. What's interesting is that #2 on the leaderboard used the Scorpion and is only .2 seconds behind.
It's all about preference. Of course, you could also try the track with the Micro Donkey![]()
I just tried your tornado 2 track the other day. I thought that one was great! The floaty feeling of the driving line fit just right imo. The beginning wasn't all that interesting for me, but once you get up into the air it was all sweet from there on. Nice work.
Thanks! The part leading up to the tornado was all about establishing the atmosphere and I actually spent an entire evening on just that section. I wanted everything to look just right.Originally Posted by Luthanick
I'm glad you enjoyed it. I'm really proud of how Tornado 2 turned out; like the first one but better in every way!
New track just released: Reclaimed
New track just uploaded: "Pink Nightmare." It's my 2nd hard track.
Just gave this a go and quite enjoyed it. For some reason (probably my brains wiring malfunctioning!) I got a little disoriented on some of the early parts (like the red rail) and couldnt tell/see where I was going to land after certain obstacles. But a 2nd or 3rd playthrough would solve that anyway so its no big deal. Other than that I enjoyed the line although I did feel it was quite a long track. Bit too long for my liking but all tracks are too long/shortfor some people it seems! LOL
I enjoyed the obstacles though, they were well done in the main.
Thanks for the comments, Barrybarfly. I wanted this one to be a long, technical track but not overly difficult. The only issue I have with it is the screen tearing in some parts. I did the best I could by setting every item not on the driving line to decoration only and it certainly helped but didn't eliminate the problem. Still, I think it all works well. I particularly like how you can see the obstacles you will face in the background seeing as though the whole thing is a spiral.
