Just released a sequel to my most successful Trials track. "Tornado! 2!" is available for download.
I wasn't a fan of the first one, but the second one seemed "better" for some reason. Can't put my finger on what or why, I just preferred it for some reason! lolOriginally Posted by KaliniuS
I know what you mean. I honestly didn't think the first one would be as successful as it was. When it came to making a 2nd one, I included a lot of things that I should have included in the first one. I spent a lot more time on the little details and sounds and it really came together a lot better. Towards the end of the track is a piano. If you land on it, you'll hear piano keys! This was done using a couple of sounds in tandem at different pitches.Originally Posted by Barrybarfly
This was impressive use of the editor...the line wasnt as unteresting as the concept for me but its a solid idea and you implemented it well. Clever stuff mate well done!![]()
I have played both of the Tornado levels so far, wow! They are awesome! Keep em comin.
Thanks for the compliment! I've just released a new track called "Don't Be Afraid." I love itOriginally Posted by Gearsfan![]()
Don't Be Afraid had a much better drive-line and flow this time. There were still some bumpy parts, but it didn't seem to slow you down to a creep as much with this track. The visuals were great with a cool atmosphere and did feel like the classic monster movie sets. I really liked the look of the lab and graveyard at the end and the prison looking section was cool too. Overall good solid fun track!
Thanks for the compliment! I'm glad the track came together as nicely as it did. I took a lot of consideration into the flow this time, more so than with my previous tracks. I also didn't want to make something overly difficult or unfair. I love the finished productOriginally Posted by BCDraven![]()
Just tried don't be afraid. The visuals a pretty nice, but I didn't like the driving line. Was it made for the scorpion perchance? I went back and tried it with the scorpion and it seemed like the jumps were built with that in mind, which I think is a dangerous thing to do as the phoenix is the standard bike for trials. If you want to be scorpion, maybe it's best to not allow the phoenix. to me, it just seemed to have random stuff in places that didn't need it. Like when you are climbing up that long rock slope with the random (step?) in it. The first step I thought was really annoying as you don't really have time to see until you hit it. I said to myself when I hit that first step "that's gonna cost a star". The other two steps were all right.
Just took a break and played it again. The random stuff doesn't bother me as much, but the driveline still has spots that could be better. There is also a fair bit of lag at some of the outdoor places. On a track like this I think lag needs to be eliminated.
I did like the jump over the saw, fire, and then the tank, but that part didn't really work with the phoenix. I was at full speed and still didn't make it to the scaffolding. If I wasn't trying to give helpful feedback I wouldn't have bothered to try it with the scorpion. If you built it a certain bike, make people use that bike.
The background decorations were pretty good, but some of the driveline just looked thrown together (thinking of the part with the loop)
Overall it was ok, Just had a few too many spots that really bugged me. This is just my opinion though, so take it however you want. Don't mean to be critical, just trying to offer feedback
Keep it up man.
Thanks for the feedback, Luthanick.
The track was tested mainly with the Scorpion but it is still possible to make the scaffolding jump with the Phoenix (although more difficult). I think other parts are easier with the Phoenix, personally; like the protruding stepping stones on the way to the dungeon. I threw a loop in there for kicks as I didn't want to slow down the rider just yet but I know a lot of people just aren't fond of them. I think it worked well.
As far as the slowdown in the outside areas goes, I didn't think it was too distracting and I have seen tracks which were way worse in that regard. I don't think the minor slowdown at the end ruins the track at all. I'm usually a stickler for having things run silky smooth too but I truly appreciate your thoughts!
