Point taken. Sorry about those. I just got used to them during testing but they can be a huge pain! You're definitely not alone in hating those slabs. Thanks for the feedbackOriginally Posted by ImB1RDY
EDIT: That part seems to be much easier using the Scorpion due to it's weight. It doesn't bounce off as easily as the Phoenix. Of course most of the other parts are easier with the Phoenix. I actually had a much better run with the Scorpion than the Phoenix, personally.
You made one huge mistake on your extreme track: CLIFFS. A lot of them.
Seriously. CLIFFS ARE NOT MEANT TO BE USED AS OBSTACLES. THEY ARE FOR DECORATION.
Your entire track used cliffs as the ground. How do you not realize that their collision boxes are terrible? You can clearly see the rider floating over them. This makes your entire track inconsistent, annoying, and luck-based because you can't tell if you are actually going to hit the cliff or an invisible collision box on top of the cliff. That is particularly bad on an extreme track. Please never put cliffs on the driving line ever again
I only gave your track one go because of this so I can't comment on the speedrunning aspects of it.
I appreciate your honesty. I see where you're coming from but I only partially agree. I know the hitboxes for the cliff objects can be inconsistent but seeing as though 95% of the actual obstacles are made using other pieces, I don't see this as a huge issue. I did notice a couple of instances where when driving on a cliff, the bike tires will either be slightly floating above or below the rock itself but again, this is not a problem that I saw to fix. With that being said, I will surely keep your comments in mind when building my next track!Originally Posted by buttcheekofdeth
EDIT: I see now the valid complaints from the people who've played it. The 3 slanted platforms are terribly inconsistent when using the Phoenix due to its light weight and the uneven surface of the platforms. Although the cliffs themselves to not hurt the track in terms of playability, they can be distracting when your rider sinks through them a few inches (or floats above them). Because of these, I'm considering releasing a 2nd version of the track that is more consistent because I think the track for the most part is solid and could use better reception.
As much as I hate releasing multiple versions of the same track, I hate imperfection even more and with that, I give you "Cave of Mystics v2" with tweaked platforms and a better flow. The overall track is much more consistent now. The medal times are also more fair than before.
I really need more Trials players on my friends list to help test my tracks before they're uploaded!
I'll normally ignore "Ver" tracks, but I'll give your update a go later and let you know how it goes.Originally Posted by KaliniuS![]()
I am finished making tracks for a while. Having multiple versions of the same tracks kinda bums me out but what can you do? I've encouraged all of my friends to rate the old versions 0 stars so they're at least at the bottom of my list when people go to view my other tracks.
When I do get around to making another track, it will be perfect the first time!
No, dont stop! Keep going, even if you dont upload some of them it doesnt matter. I often make a track and just bin it, but I nearly always learn something or come up with an obstacle I like so there's always something to be gained from it. I'm going to shoot you a fr in a bit so you can have another tester on your fl. Feel free to accept or decline the fr, it wont offend me! But dont give up on making tracks just because of a learning curve on your latest track. It was your first extreme, my first one came out very average too, so dont stress it.Originally Posted by KaliniuS![]()
Thanks for the encouragement and the FR. I've been putting out tracks on a pretty regular basis and I've run into a creative slump. Maybe if I give it a month break or so, it'll all come back.Originally Posted by Barrybarfly
But you're correct. Every time I build a track, I learn something new and grow as a builder. I didn't even touch the editor in Trials HD so I think I've done fairly well for myself.
Same here, I came to the editor as a complete noob too!If you're in a creative slump, try going to "initiative industries" and mess around trying to make stuff. Either scenery, or physics, or impulses or whatever. Sometimes that will TRIGGER (see what I did there!
) an idea for you. Sometimes works for me! lol
