What effects your decision to download a TC track? | Forums

So out of curiosity, I'd like to know what makes people download a track from Track Central to try?

We all know there is a ton of tracks, so once you settle on a difficulty (for example), what else makes you choose a particular track to try?

Please post your reasons for choosing a track!

It was in redlynx Picks. Or it's a highest rated skill game that isn't based on the trials bike.

For me, I look for reasons not to download tracks. There are so many out there, I found if I'm not too picky, I'll end up downloading 15+ a day, leaving no time to play all of them. Some of the turn-offs are:

1. Bad thumbnail pic
2. Poor/Nonexistent description OR a description stating I MUST PLAY AND RATE THIS TRACK!
3. Silly tags that don't mesh with difficulty ie. medium difficulty:ninja tag
4. If I glance at my friends list, and see everyone with 5+ faults, I usually don't bother. If they haven't bothered to zero it, it probably isn't very good. Exception:Extreme tracks
5. Silly title like XXXXTREEEEMMMME! (insert any word here)

Sometimes i know that a track is going to be bad, but i download it just to finish it and give it a bad rating.

I like bad tracks they always surprise you with extremely weird stuff.

I download tracks randomly and sometimes i found a gem through the piles of crap.

I hate tracks that either have no description or if there's poor spelling and/ or grammar in the title or description.

Tracks ThAt ReAd LiKe ThIs are ones I don't waste my time with, or if it has 200+ downloads and two people on the leaderboard.

designer names are a good ifluence too. ie: JJ or ML.

Hahaha Yeah, the creators name isnt gonna help me! lol Although I do go by that myself. Which is why I'm trying to see what influences people who either arent too familiar with the "big" names or who sometimes go looking for something randomly, more to see if its the same things as myself. That way I know to do certain things like make sure the description is accurate and the thumbnail is in some way interesting. Its stuff I do anyway tbh, I'm just trying to find out if it actually has an impact. And hopefully at the same time this might help some of the other "lesser" known creators (including me in that category!) to get noticed on TC.

I figure I cant have too much data on what people want. It all helps to either improve the track itself, or improve the "marketing" of it! lol

The fact of the matter is that its VERY tough to get noticed right now. The game is new and there is probably close to a hundred active threads in this user created tracks section of this forum. Even most of the bigger names from HD get little attention.

The only tracks getting a lot of downloads seem to be the Redlynx picks really. Give it some time, things will settle down and the competition will let up a bit.
