First, go take a look at the highest rated in skill games.
Next, count the number of golf/basketball/******ed bailout games. The last time I checked, they took up 35 spaces out of the top 50. Also note how at least half of them put the scoring in the wrong order and clearly took no more than 5 minutes to create. Out of the 50 top rated skill games, count how many of them are worth more than 1 star; you will not get past 10.
Now, check out how many ratings these horrible skill games have. One of them near the top has 31,000 ratings and 5 stars.
This problem is not going to fix itself, and it never will. One of those skill games has THIRTY THOUSAND RATINGS. That will be in the highest rated in skill games FOREVER. There is absolutely no way that will ever be displaced by something else. The same is pretty much true for the 34 other ******ed bailout games.
In general, people who play and rate Trials tracks are pretty stupid, but the people who play skill games are a special kind of stupid I have never seen before. The only skill games that are ever successful are the ******ed bailout ones, while incredibly complex, creative, well-designed ones are given 4 stars and lost to the abyss within a day. It is depressing for me to see this, I can't imagine how depressing it is for the creators.
I think the best way to fix this is to to separate the "highest rated this week" into 3 categories:
One for trials tracks, one for skill games, one for supercross tracks.
That way, if a good skill game is lucky, it will have a week in the spotlight and get some downloads. Right now its only chance is to break into the current "highest rated this week" which very few skill games do.
Come on ease up man. They are doing a good job overall. It's just amazing to have track central at all. This is an arcade game after all. It also happens to be tied with my other favorite game ever Trials HD.
Things aren't always going to work out in every scenario. Just think of what all we're getting for the price we paid. Now, look at other games that cost $60 and little or no replay value, like prototype or soemthing.
I want it to be perfect too but I just smile at all the new features.
Did it come off as if I'm angry at Redlynx? Because I'm not. I'm angry at the people who vote up bailout games and vote down good skill games.Originally Posted by TOAAchilles

Yeah,i agree dude.i think its so bizzare why people are rating bad tracks/skill games when there are far,far better ones that hardly get a look in..but,
i suppose its their choice...
i get you man, speaking as someone who was actually quite disheartened by the poor ratings given to games i had spent a long time on and was excited to share with people.
lmao, indeed a whole new kind of stupid.
let me be explicitly clear so noone can misinterpret me;
This game rocks! its my favourite game probably of all time.
i would make tea and clean shoes at redlynx hq for free! (hint lol)
people who rate good stuff bad and bad stuff good, really suck and until the the most rated lists start dropping the chaff many fine creations will be lost unless you know the creator.
yeah its there choice to vote for these games (and a couple of them are a lot of fun... some however aren't even games) but theyre taking up limited space. what i dont understand is all the people voting proper top stuff harshly (just look at how many of the redlynx picks aren't 5 star)
the lists of good creators on these forums is an attempt to circumvent this flaw (in SOME people.... not the game or t even the voting system)
my friend list has grown a lot because of this game, its a refreshing shock from the usual trash messages and hatemail you get playing most games on xbl.
sharing ideas and patting eachother on the back makes any experience better.
i'll bet this guy votes ball and bucket games 5 everytime (the only nasty message ive received out of tonnes of nice ones
from MlSSlSSlPPlGARY to B0RG 1 OF 1;
stick to trials or mini games that have a CPU and dont require 2 players or get the hell out.
reply;
so don't download my tracks. you'd probably enjoy them if you had friends to try them with. lol shame on you next time count to five and ask yourself if its really worth sending that message.
Borg mate..wot youve just said,me too..totally.im getting on average 300 downloads.im not complaining,but when i see a game i wouldnt give 1 star to get thousands of ratings,its disheartening..in a sense though,luckily there are loooaadsss of great creators.i will follow these guys for as long as it takes.and ive noticed that its guys are returning the favour n playing my tracks....n probably rating...
im guilty of not rating all the tracks i play (some of them are frankly above my skill level)
but when someones made something really nice i try to finish to give them a rating.
i try to do the same with terrible games/tracks but often its such a pill to finish i just quit.
i agree morfy the true fans wont let bad ratings stop them from following good creators or playing recommended tracks, this forum will make up for the losses.
its better to get one friendly message of congratulations and actually interact with people than to worry about what the plebs think. screw the ratings im sure things will settle in soon when the buzz dies down and only the people who genuinely love trials will remain (sigh)
and nice work on those tracks morfyboy! all nicely finished and decorated hi5.
Track central is a crap, not because of RedLynx but because at least 90% of the people playing haven't a notion what's going on. This is especially evident in multiplayer where I have literally finished race after race where the rest of the players couldn't get past the first checkpoint. It's nobody's fault and I still have faith that there are a number of staff at RedLynx that aren't completely shooting for the lowest common denominator.
I just wish the hardcore could be given our own little corner to do things by ourselves because unless I know the gamertag when I see it, I'm probably going to hammer them in multiplayer. Same goes for track central, I'd love just to have a feed dedicated to tracks focused on awesome driving lines then I wouldn't have to wade through the mountains of crap.
I'm Not being arrogant about it, I just think it would help everybody if we accepted the fact that people with years of trials experience expect different things from tracks/game in general than somebody who has just started playing.
I know this will never happen because it wouldn't be "democratic," but here's what Redlynx should do:
Once all the morons ditch this game, which shouldn't take particularly long, they should just clear the highest rated in skill games. That category is permanently screwed now, and that would be the only way to fix it.
My other suggestion in the original post is just a work around.
what you both said but much less aggressively XD
im afraid more categories would just mean more crap lol
a mechanism or "nonbike" section would be nice.
or a larger redlynx picks area with individual categories, redlynx knows whats good.![]()
