I'm currently making an in flames skill game, and my main concern when I release it is that any moron can rate it, since all they have to do is die.
Needless to say, someone who made it 5 meters in my course is not qualified to rate it, so I was thinking about making it so a certain distance must be reached before you can complete the skill game.
I am thinking about making this distance the same distance as the silver medal, which is not that hard to reach.
It should be pretty easy to make this happen. Anyone who dies before the silver medal distance will NOT finish the skill game, will NOT be able to rate it, and will NOT have their distance recorded.
Once you pass the silver distance the game will end as normal when you die, you can rate it, and your score will be recorded.
The only negative consequence is that distances below 140 meters will not be recorded, but I think it is worth it as this will stop 90% of the morons from rating my track when they don't deserve to.
I've never seen anyone do this so does anyone find this weird or stupid or mean?
Unusual is what it is, but it's a good idea since there is people that flags as inappropriate ninja tracks because they can't complete them.
Those pepole shouldn't be able to rate anything at all.
Anyway i like this idea.
I don't think you should be narrowing who can rate your track/skill game by forcing them to get a certain score. People will rate your track/skill game dependent on how fun it is, not just coz they got a good score.
It is annoying over the rating system, and also the fact people cant be bothered to do so.every custom track i play,i rate.its not like you have to go out of your way to do so.ratings give creators an idea of whether your track was liked or not.so example:- 500 downloads....20 ratings..this tells me nothing, cos its bound to be mostly your friends that have done this, which im humbled by.
Anyway mate, you have a good idea,so go for it..its your track after all.
My daily rant...![]()
Most people play it one time only. Personally I wouldn't mind the ratings if I where you but if you do the idea sounds good. Definitely a way to improve your ratings and gain an advantage.
But tell people through some sign that min. Distance is... m otherwise I would think the skill game is broken and would not bother to improve my score. :=). There are a lot of truly bad maps out there so better show people that it's intended to be that way.
I think it's a good idea. It's hard to tell how fun/good a distance game is unless you make it a decent ways in.![]()
What if I play a level 4 ninja track and determine it is not fun because I can't get past the first obstacle.Originally Posted by SeriousStu

No, and Redlynx agrees. I don't see how this situation is different. You can't determine how fun a skill game is by making it 5 meters, just like how you can't determine how fun a track is unless you are good enough to beat it.
It makes no sense to me that to rate a track you first must beat it, but to rate some skill games all you have to do is die.
