    Race 2 The Top

New track I just completed. I'm still pretty new at this, but I'm trying to make tracks that flow a little better. My last couple tracks seemed to be majorly lacking in the flow department, so I tried something different this time. There's a couple tricky obstacles but nothing too tough. Some feedback would be greatly appreciated, especially from you guys who've played my tracks before, let me know how I'm doing.

I just posted it, there's only 4 people on my leaderboard so far, and the top guy has 8 faults. I know some of you guy will be able to 0 fault this one no problem.

Its probably worth creating a thread (maybe use this one as its your latest) to use as your "base". By that, I mean you can edit the title and original post whenever you want to update people about a new track. That way people can tag the thread and will see any updates. This might make it easier for people (particularly anyone who tried previous tracks) to keep up with what you are doing, as well as make it easier for you to keep track of any feedback. It also keeps down the clutter in the forum so that everyone can navigate it easier. Win win imo.

I've only found this by seeing other posts you made and checking your post history to see if such a thread existed tbh.

I've literally JUST turned my xbox off for the night (morning? Its 4am here. ) but I'll try to remember to give your track a go next time I'm on. I'm no great shakes as a rider (gold on all extremes though), but I'll try to be constructive in any feedback I leave.

That is a great idea, I never thought of that. I'm still very new to these forums, so I don't really know how things are done around here. Thanks for the advice, and I hope you like the track if you get around to playing it!

    No problem.

So, onto the track. First off, I havent rated it. It wouldnt have been good and I didnt want your only rating to be low so I figured no rating was better. The object of the exercise was to provide feedback anyway, so here we go. The glaring problem I had was with the big jump you have in there at around 48 secs of the top guys replay. That is going to kill your track, Its way above hard difficulty and is at the highest end of extreme for most people. I guarantee a bunch of people gave up at that jump and deleted the track. Also at around 25secs there's a jump over a bar that is probably an extreme difficulty as well. I also think the last obstacle (jump onto monolith and jump onto next monolith) is extreme. Its reminiscent of some obstacles in the single player map (forget the name, something about a pit?), although I have to say I did really like it and thought it was possibly your best obstacle!

Several of the early obstacles require a slight pause or reverse in order to attack properly and this ruins the flow. But other than that they work pretty well. I can spot at least 3 complex example set pieces in there. The falling barrels, monster truck, and water box. I would say that you should either learn how to make physics events or not use them. But using an already made event just looks lazy to anyone who notices imo.

Its clear that you made an effort with the decoration/scenery too. Most of it seems pretty good and I'm sure that will get better each time (if you're anything like me it should! lol).

One tip I would give you as far as helping flow. I recently realised that you can make an obstacle easier by putting something at the base of it to help people get onto it. This helps the flow sometimes because a pause isnt necessary before attempting the obstacle. Worst case scenario? Drop the tracks difficulty and keep the flow. Something I will always bear in mind now. Your track seems to be way way too hard to be classified as a hard track anyway, so you could improve the flow on a few early obstacles and that would help bring it down into hard AND help the flow. Adjust the "big jump" so its more suitable for a hard track and suddenly those small small changes have turned it into a decent hard track.

All of this sounds really bad and may make you wonder who I think I am or why you bother. Don't! I read one of your posts saying you felt your mates were too kind and you really wanted honest constructive feedback so that is all I'm trying to do. I'm still learning the editor myself and dont claim to be the greatest rider so others may well come along and correct me or agree with me. Who knows!

The bottom line. The track is way too hard and has one terrible opbstacle. It needs a tweak to improve the flow. The scenery is ok except for example groups. But most of the track is very close to actually being pretty good imo. Like I say, just a few tweaks to it could have made it that little bit better which may have made all the difference. So keep at it. This sounds like an awful review, but my hope is simply that it will help you make better tracks. It seems like you have plenty of perseverence and are improving, so I'm expecting good things next time!
