Trees Flickering and Screen Tearing
Hey Guys,
I was messing with the editor doing a 'treetop' style track, just a fast quick easy track with some jumps to familiarize myself with clouds and trees and whatnot.
The problem is, I placed a bunch of trees in the driving line to create the effect that I am way up high in the air, and the trees keep 'flickering'; that is they disappear and reappear randomly.
1) I know this is not an issue with object distance, draw distance, or anything like that. The trees that randomly disappear are closer to the rider than a bunch of other trees and objects that do NOT randomly appear and disappear.
2) This is only happening with 'some' trees...
Has anyone had this happen to them? If so, how did you fix it?
It really ruins the look of the track when the trees in the background are disappearing while you approach them, then reappearing while you're next to them, etc.
I am also getting some screen tearing in the level. Maybe because of the trees?
All trees were set to decoration only, changing this back to 'default' did not make a difference.
Complexity is not high, at all.
Wind is set to 0 (thought that might be an issue)
Help!

Re: Trees Flickering and Screen Tearing
Have you made sure they're not overlapping? Sometimes I found that if objects are overlapping (or almost in the same place) they flicker, you can see this when you move the camera around in the editor. If thats the case, you just need to move them slightly. As for the screen tearing it maybe you have too many objects (or trees) in that particular location, this may even be the reason for the flicker.
Complexity does not indicate if your track will have a poor framerate.

As above,if you copy an object by accident, then this will show flickering, and looks bad.
I know you probably do this but double/triple check your track once completed.go over it half a dozen times to make sure its 100% as you want it..i never used to do this on trials hd until a friend of mine sent me back this feedback.its something i never knew. So now i do it all the time.
Hope this helps.

Re: Trees Flickering and Screen Tearing
I should have been more clear.
The 'flicker' in the trees isn't the same type of flicker you get when you copy an object on top of itself
absolutely despise that flicker and I think it is due to pure laziness!).
Some of my trees completely disappear, for maybe 2 seconds, then reappear again. It honestly is almost as if they are out of the draw range, that's sort of how I would describe it.
However, that being said, they are actually totally not outside of the draw range. That is 100% not the problem at all and I know that for a fact.
I'll keep messing around and post if I find the issue.

What trees are you using?

Re: Trees Flickering and Screen Tearing
I am using all kinds of trees. I thought at first that I had found out that it was only the type 2 cedar trees, because when I changed some of them, they started to work properly.
Then other ones started doing it. I cannot figure that out, so I pretty much scrapped that. I don't know how to theme this track now haha.
Note to self, finish the theme first, then add the driving line.
