    Re: Minecraft (XBLA)

Well, your friend is technically right. When you install mods for the game, they stop working when you update. But mod creators are quick about updating their mods to suit the version. Then you have to update your mods, or wait to update the game (which sounds bad, but in reality doesn't make a huge difference.)

The MC for 360 is intended to get mod and texture pack support in the future. And the one on PC is actually supposed to get official support for plugins, which is the actually-supported equivalent of mods.

So if the 360 ever reaches that point, you will have all the user content and high-res textures you could want. As long as it's easy enough for mod creators to achieve high-res texture plugins, or if official plugins are made. Or if you get used to low-res textures, you could have fun making your own texture packs and character skins to suit your tastes. I had a lot of fun with that on PC.

As for the challenge, it can be an interesting challenge having to survive while being attacked by enemies every night. You have to figure out the best ways to build your shelter so you don't end up getting trapped or killed. Figuring out how to assemble redstone devices to do what you intend can also be interesting. It especially gets interesting on harder difficulties, and self-induced challenges.

But either way, MineCraft isn't ever going to be as big of a challenge as a game like Trials. Everything in MineCraft works by a set of rules. Sometimes rules are broken, but even broken rules can often be predicted. There are very few physics objects, while Trials is almost nothing but physics. So you really can't play MineCraft expecting the same needs to be met. It could be better at some of what its good at, but it's still fun and challenging enough to be addictive.

Just remember that while Trials has a better editor, has a funner game engine, has bigger creation possibilities and challenges, it doesn't let you live in your creation. That right there is Minecraft's appeal.

Everytime me and the people I was playing with tried to sleep, monsters would somehow get into the house and attack us! It happened quite a few times which was pretty annoying. I bet there is a simple explanation for it though haha

It's actually less simple than you might think:

    Bed - Minecraft Wiki

Lighting also plays a factor. Not to mention you need to make sure there aren't mobs spawning below your structure somewhere.

I'm managing to play them both equally at the moment. Trials through the day when i'm on my own, then minecraft at night when my friends come online.

Honestly, I'd be playing Trials a lot more lately if my girlfriend and I didn't start our Minecraft world on my XBox. Now I have to be her dedicated server whether or not I'm playing Minecraft.

But it's so awesome when I get to play Trials again. I feel so free every time I do a big jump. It's like I had cement shoes from playing Minecraft, and suddenly I can fly.
