    Extreme Maps are difficult

Finally unlocked the extreme maps. Now i'm the 1st to admit that i always find these difficult and looking for some techniques that might help.

I have so far only completed 1 extreme map and that was with about 100 faults. I always seem to have trouble with the steep incline sections that usually follow a bunny hop or 2 and i find my bike will always flip backwards.

    Any advice appreciated.

Practice. Another thing you can do is watch replays. Trials Evolution has a nice slow-mo feature in replay mode, I imagine it can come in pretty handy for people who are still learning the ropes such as yourself. Pay close attention to the controls at the bottom right and try to get a good feel for the techniques used by top riders.

    Also, practice.

For those steep hills, be gentle on the gas (RT). Too much acceleration causes backflips

Im not amazing at the game but the main advice id give is practice landing on back wheel after jumps to maintain your speed/momentum while trying not to let your front suspension contract much, killing your bounce and keeping momentum when required can really make the difference.

If your really struggling on a steep hill you can creep up it with tiny amount of gas (slow but will get you past some of those more annoying moments)

for landing on steep hills you need to land on your back tyre first, but leaning forward with a little bit of gas. feathering the RT works a treat as well to prevent you flipping.

as for getting up steep hills. it's mostly about RT control but also try tapping right on the stick. holding right can make your rider push his front wheel in and you'll go rolling back down the hill, tapping sometimes is the better option. just try and get a feel for it.

but yeah, watch replays. not the top times. watch someone who's just about managed to zero fault/platinum the track and see what they do.

practise makes perfect mate. and it's a great feeling when you really feel in control of your bike. good luck

Too much gas is definitely the hardest habit to break. Learning to take it easy on the ramps that have obstacles at the top took me a long time, but it really is starting to pay off. Come to think of it, easing up on the acceleration helps on almost any obstacle, apart from the long jump.

I still haven't made it through Inferno 3, but I'm getting there!

Everyone has pretty much given you the best advice for those problems tbh. I'm up at over 400 faults for The Wreck and about the same for Inferno I think. But I'm down to 5 faults on Fishy business. But going back to do the hard tracks was WAY easier after trying all the extremes! So even if you feel like you aren't getting anywhere, go back to the hard tracks and try those again to see how much easier they feel. Its a good way of keeping your confidence high and avoid getting (too) dispirited!

I feel your pain, I was right there a couple of weeks ago. Well, technically I'm practically still there! There's only 3 tracks I've improved on but I got them to one silver and two golds! Clean runs arent even in my near future though! lol

    Oh, and practice! lol

A friend of mine was having trouble on the wreck. I started a private game and we went through it together. I was able to watch his ghost and see what he was doing wrong. He got through it without too much trouble with me helping him. So if you have a friend who can get through the extremes, party up. It will help a lot.

    Re: Extreme Maps are difficult

I remember way back in THD thinking Jolly Jumper (medium) was impossible! The first time I managed to get to the end I was ecstatic. That's the track that taught me how to land on a ramp and keep going.

I was even more convinced King of the Hill was impossible... couldn't even get past the first obstacle for days. That's the track that taught me not to jam on the gas for everything, though the lesson wasn't hammered home until I hit the extremes.

I still prefer a tough "Hard" level to an Extreme. They're just more fun to me personally.

I used to really struggle with steep inclines on HD. I spent alot of time on the Hill climb skill game trying to improve and that helped alot! Try searching for some Hill climb tracks on Evo and get some good practice in.
