    Pet peeves

What are your pet peeves when it comes to user-created tracks?

    Mine:
    * Obstacles/jumps where the landing spot is obstructed. I don't know how many times I've faulted on a relatively easy jump because I couldn't see the *@#% track.

    * Sharp turns - especially if they occur in mid-air

    * Tracks that are labeled "Easy/Medium" when they clearly require "Hard" or "Extreme" skills. Just because YOU might be able to ace an Extreme track with 0 faults, doesn't mean that most people will.

-Tracks with bad camera angles or unclear driving lines

-Tracks with floating or seemingly random obsticals

-Spamming fire or other random effects.

    Re: Pet peeves

My OCD really hates tracks that are named in all lower case or upper case, or unproper mixtures of both. Like "The ultimate track"... it should be "The Ultimate Track" damnit!

But yeah, all that stuff above is definitely just bad track making in most cases.

BTW, I don't make tracks (too time consuming), I just play them. So I thank all and everyone that dedicate their time to making all these custom tracks so I can keep playing Trials for the foreseeable future.

I hate the random explosions and fire that occur at the obstructed landing zone. Love having the explosion force tilt my bike as I am going through smoke to try and land on something I couldn't see in first place.

Funny, because you just described the last three top-downloaded tracks that I played.

I really hate the obstructed obstacles. I even faulted on a regular ramp once was landing on it) because it had a big rock in front of it.

Difficulty is more annoying and in some cases confusing. I even got one made by a fairly highly regarded track creator that had the wrong difficulty listed. I am fine with the hard difficulty, but trying to ride it medium (you know what I mean; fast, with an awareness of obstacles and the need to slow for some parts) and realizing it should be hard just kind of pissed me off, so he got 3 stars from me even though the track was good.

As far as style, a shaky driving line just looks so lazy. A curved one on a jump doesn't look thought out at all, a super-sharp turn suddenly doesn't look natural.

I have to admit that I was guilty of placing an obstructed obstacle on the first track that I created. It wasn't deliberate - just bad obstacle placement. But you live and learn. However, many of the tracks I've seen have deliberate obstructions, which aggravates me to no end.

Yeah, I did the same thing. I really don't mind if it's just once in a level, and it only appears to happen on accident or happens tastefully (there are a couple built-in levels that do it, even.) But when you put a 30 foot ball of fire in front of a technical area, you're just asking for trouble.

Another one I don't like is totally unpredictable and completely punishing physics obstacles. We're not playing Lemmings.

    - Sharp movements in the driving line.

    - Obstructed landing zones.

    - "Hidden" bits of track. As in completely hidden behind a F*&!ing tree or rock so I cant see what I'm doing! lol

The worst one is a 90 degree (or more!) turn in the driving line. That'll P me off every time!

Ninja tracks that don't use the label "Ninja difficulty"

If I see this, the track will get 3 stars at most. (Assuming I can beat it)

Threads advertising a track, when the poster couldn't even be bothered to post ANYWHERE else on the forum until they wanted you to dl their track!
