Are you a car guy/girl? Check the wheels!

So I realized, while ripping apart a bathroom, that there are a ton of cars around me in various stages of repair.

From Nissan to Dodge, Chevy to Ford, there are a few treats to be seen. If only I had the time to restore them all. Too bad, for the cars, that I love working for RedLynx.

Anyhow, if you work on cars, why not post what you've got and what you want to do?

    Warning! Probably LARGE pictures.

Rolls Royce - Brakes are shot.

1968 Dodge Dart (far) and 1965 Ford Thunderbird. Dart needs completely restored.

1959 MGA - Possibly completely shot.

1990 Nissan 300ZX - needs minor interior work.

1966 Plymouth Barracuda - Needs some body work and weather seals.

2012 Dodge Challenger RT - Needs a better driver. Ha.

2007 Jeep Commander - Needs to be Trail Rated. Stupid highway package with AWD. like 12mpg

So, what have you got? I'll admit that these are not all in "good running condition, but they are dreams of the road. I like thinking of them being showroom fresh, it's like a little time machine.

PS: Feel free to make fun of me.

The Barracuda needs a hew driverside front fender, or a little hammer massaging, and paint.. Other than that maybe a little chrome polishing.

Right now it is all original and runs pretty good.

The Rolls is all original and just needs the brakes fixed and the car washed an waxed. It's dirty as hell. Lol.

I have a "new" truck, but the picture came out really bad. It looks backlit, but the sun was behind me. I think it was so bright it overpowered the lens on my phone.

    Posting anyways:

It's sitting on a Camaro frame and needs a ton of work. There's a 390hp 454 that should be going in it some time. It'll be a bit of a beast.

I'm a fan of that old t-bird. If I lived down there, I'd help you fix some of those up.

@les - I have a spare room. Take a trip! That T-bird is all original too. Some mice got into the headliner back at its original owner's, but other than that it's pretty good.

The Dart, the MGA, and the truck need a LOT of work.

The dodge challenger is so sweet. Rarely see any muscle cars over here because most of the roads are built for horse and cart

I a big car fan. Love that era of T-bird!

I only have time and money for one car. I can't really claim it to be a "project," as it's the only car I've ever owned, and as such has always been my "daily driver," but it looks and runs much better than when I got it over 10 years ago so I suppose you could say I'm gradually restoring it. It's a 1967 Oldsmobile 98 hearse.

The big hideous fender mirrors in this picture were temporary and have since been replaced by proper door mirrors.

Old hearses are one of the few things I can be fervently passionate about. I feel privileged to own one. Every time I look at my car, I think, "Wow! I wish that were mine!" Then I remember that it is, and I feel good.

The video is of two cars that make my insides boil. They belong to my great uncle. My mom took the video a few years ago, but I recently visited and saw them for myself, and found that the storage conditions have deteriorated and the cars are getting leaked on and disintegrating quickly. They are so close to me, in a relational sense, but he has determined never to get rid of them. When he dies, they are going to be passed to his grandchildren, who care nothing for them and acknowledge that they will gladly let them continue to sit and rot in a musty garage until there is nothing left, simply because they can't be bothered. BAH! Anyway, here it is.
*edit: video failed, so here's a URL.

The '59 Caddy is the "Holy Grail" of hearses. Impossible to find, or own. The Pontiac has gorgeous lines, very similar in the front to the GTO of that year. I love that car. I wish so badly they were mine.

Well, this may sound bad, but, after your Uncle passes away, if his grandchildren don't want the cars then you may be able to buy them off of their hands. Possibly not. I've known people who would rather let their cars sit in a field and mark time by watching the vicious spread of deep rust.

I hate watching ANY older cars go to waste. Cars were actually made more by hand back then, and watching someone's hard work disappearing just because someone can't be bothered to throw even a $5 tarp over a car (2 minutes of work) seems wrong.

Also, for some reason your '67 Olds reminds me of a '65 Chrysler Imperial. I am not sure why... But I would LOVE a '65 Imperial.

Edit: Did my pics disappear for anyone else? I swear they were working before, but now they just say "image"... Strange.

(un)Fortunately, my great uncle is in good health, with probably 15 or more years left in the tank. His grandchildren won't care about the cars, but their dad won't let them sell, unless he becomes a changed man over the years. Given the choice between selling the cars for a fair price and burning them, they would opt for the barbecue. I am going to try and get them to pay a little bit of attention to the storage conditions.

Like you, watching old cars disintegrate burns me. A great deal of artistry went into cars before 1973, and few companies spared any expense for quality. Thankfully now even the not-so-special cars of those days are going up in value, so more are being restored and rescued. That puts them out of my range of affordability, but so long as I get to see them on the road I'm happy.

I see the resemblance between my car and the '65 imperial. The front fenders on both cars extend past the headlights, creating what I like to call the "watermelon slicers."
