I can feel you. Trials 2 is still bothering me allthough I didn't play it for months. I always had the urge to get better and compete to others. And I always wanted to be the best in it. It sure was possible for me to get in the top4, but anything above that, is brutal pain and lots of frustration. I bought Trials Evolution with a good feeling. But even with the fact that it's such an incredible game I don't want to play it just because of the fact that I know that I will lose lots of years that could have been spend on other more important things (and because xbox sucks). I wish you best luck and hope you will feel better any time soon
Thanks Kim! You must be the proper age to view this thread. Elements behavior anywhere else other then on the Internet would be horrid.
Elements is drunk as hell dude hahaha

Slinky you are full of win. What does it give you to be top of the leaderboards if all what people see is a geek.... Really nothing. No one really cares. You might get some words of admiration but most people won't admire you for what you do.. Actually only a few people do really care about such stuff. The other people trying to constantly stay on top of the boards.

Continue this way, it is the right one. Gaming will never fulfil your needs.

Well to be honest you are right if you are speaking of competitive lb gaming only. Pretty much, playing anything just for fun and mild competition is amazing. It gives me chills just thinking about it. But the second you are being forced to wake up and compete on a game when you dont feel like it is the second you will be miserable. I think alot of top speedrunners have come to the same conclusion, just a long time before I did. The last time going all out on Trials was truely fun for me was on trials HD when I first starting becoming known.

Building tracks is a lot less stressful The music in the new editor is even very serene and peacefull. Try it out.
Play custom tracks more man, people are making incredible stuff with the Evo editor.

Really get where you're coming from. Sometimes it's so hard to step back and realise that Trials is never going to pay the bills or really satisfy you for a long time. It's always about improving, always about getting better and wanting more. I can't count how many nights I've neglected other things in my life in order to compete on some stupid leaderboard that nobody will give 2 sh*ts about a year from now.

I'll give you an example, yesterday morning I woke up, went downstairs, cereal, cigarette, turn on the Xbox and wander through the trials menu's. Not because I wanted to, but purely out of habit. Seriously, sometimes I'll just be sitting there watching replays and have absolutely no idea why I'm doing it. It's actually really sad when you think about it..

Yeah it easily gets stressful, that's why I stopped competing systematically when you showed up on the leaderboards back in 2010/2011 in HD. You'll be fine.

I was like this on HD, to the point where i got burnt out and givin in was a chore til i started playin customs- no leaderboards so i started havin a little fun again, especially on ninjas. Im enjoyin Evo at my own pace and i think you'll do fine if you find other things that you can enjoy doin. I am an avid replay watcher too, i watch bout 10-20 replays on diff tracks everytime i load up Evo, to get the blood flowin.

I was hoping you would take back Lookout Point so i could play that track again but your priorities come first. Good luck with your future and i mean that sincerely.

    Re: Retired from Competitive Play

I want that red dead redemption still. Take it from me, everyone knows your a top level speedrunner & I don't think you have a thing left to prove. Do things you enjoy ...not what you think others will enjoy. I always think of the people who work 50hrs a week to pay the morgage on a fancy house & for the next 25-30 years they will be stressed skint & argue over money & for what? So their friends can say oh thats a nice house. Well the wow factor for the friends lasts maybe 1 or two visits to the house & after that its the norm & they don't care ....yet the show offs pay for that little bit of praise for life! I don't want to turn round when I'm 60 & think hummm I got a nice house but I did nothing else. I want to think I had a normal house but I remember going on holiday there ...there...there & we did this & we did that ...because I spent my money on things that matter. Lifes about having fun & if you ever want it you need to lose the image, what ever image it may be.

    Re: Retired from Competitive Play

I liked reading this thread. Made me think why do I even bother competing at all? I mean nobody else truly cares, do they? I guess it's all about self-accomplishment, but as others have said nobody is going to give a damn what you achieved in a years time.

Kinda glad I stopped competing on Evo when the leaderboards went kaput now. Been playing for fun and to help the community (My video request thread) ever since.

Good luck in the future Slinky!
