Track Testing
Not sure if this is the best board but I don't know where else to put this.
Track Testers!
Making this thread so that builders can find some help with getting people to test the tracks they've been working so hard on! Hopefully this will help improve the quality of most of the user created tracks being uploaded.
One of the biggest issues with making tracks is testing it over and over to make sure it's a fun, challenging ride for anyone who happens to download it. While the builders themselves can test their tracks a hundred times over it's easy to miss some little things here and there, not to mention they've probably stared at it so long that they simply have grown used to some of the issues and just don't see them as issues any longer. Things like foreground or background objects interfering with the track, a bad drive line, or obstacles that are just flat out frustrating and annoying may be missed when the only person testing the track already knows it like the back of their hand.
~Builders~
-Don't take things personally! The tester is there to try to help you so don't be offended if that one obstacle that you worked so hard on just doesn't work or seems really out of place when compared to the theme and design of the rest of your track.
-Also remember that you aren't building a track specifically for your testers, so while someone might tell you something is really out of place it could just be their personal taste on the matter. If 2 or 3 people tell you something is out of place, you may want to go back and really look at it.
-Make sure to test your map before bringing in other people! They are there just to double check for you so at least give them the courtesy of making sure your track is actually passable.
-The testers are giving up their time to help you so don't pester them to hurry up or beg them to stay longer when they have to go. You are on their time!
~TESTERS~
-Remember you are there to give constructive criticism. Don't just say "This map sucks, fix it." Try to give the builder as much information as you can. ex. "The pile of boxes between the 3rd and 4th checkpoints make it difficult to see the obstacle you have placed there." "The ramp after the 5th checkpoint is a little too high up and my rider was crashing when he hit the bottom lip of it."
-Try to remain as neutral as you can. They are not building a track specifically to your tastes.
If you are willing to help out and test some tracks please just make a post below with the following info:
~What is your skill level? (Can you pass Extreme tracks with ease or do you struggle on medium tracks?)
~What types of tracks are you willing to help test? (Trials, Skill Games, Supercross)
~Do you want them to contact you with a PM on the forums or just send you a message on XBL? ( If you want them to send you a message on XBL remember to provide your Gamertag!)
~What is the best time for you to meet up for some track testing? (Don't forget to include a timezone!)
TRACK BUILDERS DO NOT POST IN THIS THREAD: If you want to get in contact with someone send them a private message here or, if they allow it, to their xbox. DO NOT SPAM THEM WITH CONSTANT MESSAGES EITHER. Have some patience. Also be sure you only contact testers that will actually have a chance with your track. If you're aiming for an extreme track don't contact testers that struggle on hard ones.
