I have made several tracks, only messing with the terrain shaping tool twice.
Starting today while trying to extend a cliff/hill face (to make the terrain a bit longer and more even) I keep getting....
1. Weird cube-like striations stepping down the edges/walls my placed terrain patches.
2. A sporadic ghosting of the terrain shaping "patches" as I move them into the desired location. Often the "ghosted" trails are mangled/deformed doubles-> I was creating a hill using 'Decal: Hill 1' to even out the terrain (w/decal off). As I moved the patch of terrain into place mangled/deformed copies followed/ghosted themselves behind the terrain patch even though I hadn't actually applied them yet. One "ghosted image" was a deep 10' circular pit with a 10'x6" high pillar of terrain protruding from the center (upside down umbrella-ish in shape). Others ghosts resemble knife blades (small width, long length). These are just a few examples. ***Even after selecting the "New Track" option the errors still remained.
3. Trailing where I had moved the terrain patch to get it into place are improperly valued lighting effects.... almost as if the shadows around the "error" are rendering for a 10:00am variable(correctly so), but in the trail of the patch the "shadow rendering variable" has been overwritten and not re-corrected (usually displaying the 10:00pm shadow var instead of the correct 10:00am var); Description-They resemble randomly rendered intersecting parallel squares with each "error" squares shadow var being a flipped mirror of the next. Put it into x&y values= The point -1,-1 reflects and flips the adjacent squares shadow render value to the point 1,1.
4. The "error" shadows also dissolve/wipe away (like the powerpoint slide feature) rendering the correct shadow value if the camera angle in correct.
I cannot get the "error" shadow patterns on the corners, pits, and valleys of my terrain modification to away unless I start over.
I can get the weird shadow patterns left in the path of where I moved the patch (whilst getting it into place) by changing the "time of day" a click left or right.
I cannot get the ghosted deformed "error" terrain patches to go away unless I exit the editor or run the terrain patch back over it (still leaving multivalued shadows in its wake).
Hope this helps!!! Although I'm sure the render issue has been brought up on the forums already. If not, there yah go.
Thanks for a great game Devs!![]()
I've seen most of those.
If you get the black squares I found that if you place the mod where you want it, reselect it and move and place it again, then hit X to undo it gets rid of them.
Thanks, I'll have to try it out.Originally Posted by EuphoricFusion
