Re: Barrybarfly's tracks. NEW TRACK! "The commute" out 30/4/

My latest track i s now available:
    "The commute".
    Medium difficulty.

Set along the "drive" from work to catch a train, this should be suitable for most riders to enjoy.

Re: Barrybarfly's tracks. NEW TRACK! "Rainy day" 3/5/12 VID

    New track uploaded.

    Trials industry

    Hard

This track is a blast to ride and has some tricky bits as well for that added challenge! As always, feel free to leave feedback!

Edit: Trials Industry SX is also now available. Its a slightly easier version of Trials industry and is a supercross version of the track.

Played your tracks Barry, I'd have to say I liked Rainy Day and The Commute the best. Some tracks had some unexpected lag that was pretty nasty, not sure what caused it either since there wasn't any crazy physics or lighting going on. Overall though keep at it and I'll look for more in the future.

Yeah, Glen of tranquility lags very badly due to too much terrain shaping. Lesson learnt on that one! Also, Hunter's moon has a strange bit near the beginning, but only while you are high off the ground on the obstacle. Very strange, but I think it may be due to the choice of trees in the background. Not sure though.

My fav is probably rainy day, but I was pleased with the commute and Trials industry too. Those three are the latest ones and I had learnt more by then (like how to remove lag!) so I'm not surprised they included your favourites! lol

Thanks for trying them out and leaving some feedback! Very much appreciated.

Re: Barrybarfly's tracks. Please leave feedback!

rainy days has some cool physics and a nice line man, right at the start i kept hitting the stone door that raises because i was going too fast, maybe that is something you could think about in future tracks lol...definitely enjoyed it and intend to put a few runs in and get a decent time before i cross that finish line.

Played the commute and trials industry too, and they both also have really good lines. I think you could spend more time bringing the tracks to life and fleshing out your obstacles...you know how to make a good line and you also know hot to add some physics in that work....the little details can make a track even more appealing, which may get you more hits and ratings in the long run. Its a double edge sword though because you can spend many hours getting it perfected and it slips off the new track list in 10 minutes with less than 300 views so I feel you there mate.

    Keep it going man!

Re: Barrybarfly's tracks. Please leave feedback!

Thanks man, sounds like you had good fun on them! With hindsight, once I had adjusted the ramp after that door (on rainy day)) to be taken flat, I should have made the door rise faster as I didnt need to slow the rider down anymore. But it seemed to work ok at the time so I left it! lol But that whole track was about improving the scenery, reducing lag and learning the physics joints. So it came out pretty good considering that was its main aim! I wasnt even sure if it would get uploaded when I started it or wether it would just be a test bed for physics! lol

With the commute track I was having some lag issues and had to remove a fair bit in order to keep it moving smoothly. The second half of the map looks fairly empty/standard but actually isnt, so thats why there isnt more on that map.

If I'm honest, I just ran out of ideas for Trials industry as to what I could add as scenery without it looking out of place or superfluous. Although I knew it needed something, especially at the end. But I was so happy with the feel and the track itself I decided to leave it as it was.

But I do appreciate what you are saying and I try to bear that in mind. As always, I'm hoping my next track will be another progression of my ability. Which means I need to nail down a good atmosphere, "great" track and obstacles, good scenery and good effects. My priority will always be the track itself, I'd rather have a good track with poor scenery than a poor track wiith good scenery, but I'm learning how much I can add without affecting framerate, so I need to raise my bar yet again! lol! Been a bit off colour the last few days so havent started anything yet, but I'm hoping I might get something done next week.

Thanks for trying them and for leaving feedback, it really is much appreciated!

New track out today (17/5/12)! Its an extreme track set at the scene of a train derailment. If anyone trys it then feedback would be gratefully recieved!

    Name: Off the rails.
    Difficulty: Extreme.

Re: Barrybarfly's tracks. New Extreme track: "Off the rails"

7 hours = 300downloads, 4 ratings, 4 stars (like everything else) and no feedback (like everyone else). I sometimes wonder if its worth putting so much effort into making tracks.

Re: Barrybarfly's tracks. New Extreme track: "Off the rails"

Last obstacle in Off the rails ruined the track in my opinion.

If that last obstacle weren't there I probably would go 0 fault it, but no way.

First off, it's damn near impossible from the checkpoint, requiring a perfect jump to avoid the dynamite. That's not fun, and extreme tracks do not require you to make absolutely perfect jumps.

Even when I did it with momentum from the obstacle before, it's way too hard. It is also not technical in any way, which makes it stand out from the rest of your track.

I think you intended for this obstacle to be easy and for the rider to just fly over it into the finish line. Well it's not easy.

Ever see the tip in the editor where it says "explosives do not make good obstacles!" Well it's true. You should delete the dynamite and just raise the box underneath it until it is high enough to become an obstacle.

Other than that it was a pretty decent track. I did have to stop at each obstacle though, which was annoying. I faulted whenever I tried to transition between two obstacles quickly. Maybe it was my fault but I don't think it was.
