Explosion from a distance
Hello everyone, I have set up a track in which a hit trigger is set off once the rider touches a ramp. This hit trigger then turns on an effect event, and this is linked to a nuclear explosion in the distance. However when I test the track it doesn't go off. I assume the reason for this is that the explosion is outside the physics bubble? If I'm correct, is there any way to set off the one explosion without having to increase the physics bubble to a massive size? It seems silly just to alter the physics for a single effect.
Oh, one other small thing- what's the best way to set up a track high in the sky? It's not easy placing down the race line and then trying to line up a plank 100m up. Also, it didn't seem to work last time I checked.
Thanks!

Re: Explosion from a distance
If your explosion is very far away it's probably outside of the maximum view distance (see: track settings->environment->custom settings). I don't think physics apply to the visuals of the explosion because it will still show with physics turned off.
For your second question: Maybe build the foundation for your track closer to the ground? Best I can think of

Re: Explosion from a distance
The physics bubble shouldn't be an issue, I had something similar in one of my tracks at one point.
A hit trigger , linked to an Effect Event , which was linked to about 3 nukes a long way away in the background. It worked fine.

Re: Explosion from a distance
Is the nuclear explosion disabled? It has to be turned off first to be turned on by the effect event, otherwise it will explode the moment you play the map (: Only thing I can think of, or what Adaptor said about the draw distance.
As for the high up map, you could make it on the ground so it is level and working with your driving line, then use an area selector to select all your track pieces and move them upwards.

Re: Explosion from a distance
Your first problem sounds similar to mine but Im pretty sure my contraptions arent working because they are out of the physics bubble. Even with triggers and everything I can not get it to work.
As far as your track in the sky there is a way to snap objects on and off of a plane you pre-determine. Sorry but im not sure the specific way to do that but I think there is a snap option in the advanced physics of any object (could be wrong, not looking at it). I imagine that would help a lot. If anything build a massive foundation on the ground, glue it, use it as a guide and when you are done with everything simply delete the foundation.

Re: Explosion from a distance
I have the same effect in my 'Area 51' track but used an Area Trigger connected to an Effect Event then connected to the Nuclear Explosion in the distance... I've not used a Hit Trigger yet so not sure what the properties are... anyway it should work!

Re: Explosion from a distance
I think Adaptor is right, the explosion was too far away. The draw and object distances cannot be turned any higher unfortunately.
Thanks for the replies!
