    Seriously!?

So I uploaded my first track last night and it really is an EASY/MEDIUM track, infact there are harder EASY tracks in the actual game. It's mainly a good old moto-cross-country with obstacles that even Stephen Hawkins could tackle in real life (no disrespect) ...

Anyway, I received a message from someone on my friends list last night saying... "nice track, but I couldn't finish it..."

OK! I understand everyone has different skill levels at this game, but I do sometimes wonder how some gamers get through it at all!?

    Re: Seriously!?

What's your gamerTag and the Track Name and I'll give it a try for you. If I can finish it then anyone should be able to.

I always think if you enjoy it then who cares how good you are.

Trials is one of those games where you can be bad at it and still get a hell of a lot of fun from it!

    Re: Seriously!?

    OK mate thanks!

    My gamertag is: RetroMan71
    Track is: Mission: Area 51
It's an EASY TRIALS track with Scenic, Something Wild tags

Also, 219 downloads but only 8 times on the leaderboards.. I'd hate to think that I created a beast track when I uploaded it thinking it was EASY??

    Let me know mate!

    Re: Seriously!?

Wow.....first thing to go should be that horrendous camera angle. You have no depth perception so you dont know where obstetrical are in relation to the bike or what their vertical angles are. There are also far too few checkpoints and you need to allow the Phoenix Evo.

Im sure the track would be nice if not for that disgraceful camera position.

    Re: Seriously!?

To echo the previous poster: the camera angle is terrible and there are too few checkpoints.

When building tracks remember that the number one concern is playability. No matter how cool you think something looks, if it hurts playability, it should not be in your track. Messing with the default game camera is effectively the number one way to hurt playability. Notice how cool Trials of Limbo looks from an aesthetic perspective but how few people like it from a gameplay perspective.

Even beyond the camera issue your track is, to be brutally honest, fairly poor. The flow of the driving line is not particularly fun and the theme is disjointed. Things like adding decals to your riding line and carefully considering placement of decorations go a long way to giving your track a better feel. Remember, before you release your track into the wild, test it, then test it again, then test it some more. Try and get opinions from friends. When you put it out there, it should feel perfect.

Don't feel bad about the criticism. This seems like one of your first tracks, and nobody does that well on their first try. As long as you keep an open mind and learn from your mistakes, you'll only keep getting better.

    Good luck!

    Re: Seriously!?

No worries guys, I take criticism well...

As to the theme, it was supposed to be disjointed and weird due to it being near 'Area 51', also I didn't want it to feel like a normal trials race track and I thought I captured the cross country feel quite well?!?! Some won't like the camera change but one friend messaged me last night saying he "loved the quirky nature of it as though he was being chased, it was different"..

Anyway, thanks for your response guys, I understand it's not to everyone's taste!
