Re: Malachyte's Trials HD Goals - No Evo 'til they're done!

Just let it go man Change is good.. Why not just finish up whatever you're doing on HD, move on to Evo and if you don't like it or whatever you can always go back to HD. Seriously, I think people way overestimate how difficult it is to reaccustom yourself to either game. After an hour or so of playing HD today for the first time since Evo launched I was almost at the same level I was at when I stopped playing it all those months ago. You can definitely switch between the two with a bit of patience.

How exactly would you 0-faulting Ninjas help me with my own PERSONAL Trials HD goals...?

Oh I know. I'm not worried about making the switch - I know I'll adjust to the new physics just like everyone else did. I'm not worried that I won't like Evo. I know that I probably WILL like it, and after moving on I probably won't feel like going back to THD at all. That's precisely why I want to make sure I finish my goals before moving on.

Honestly Mal, just do what seems right when the time comes. Forget the extra goals if that doesn't seem like fun, but if it does then Evo will have to wait. It's all for fun in the moment, games should never be a chore.

Re: Malachyte's Trials HD Goals - No Evo 'til they're done!

    ^^

Thanks Skag. Indeed, that really is the bottom line. DonRene made the same point, and it's a good one.

So many people seem to think I'm "torturing myself" by completing all these Trials HD goals before moving on, but I'm really not. I'm doing it because I enjoy it. I'm getting far more enjoyment out of this game now that everyone else has moved on to Evo, simply because I don't feel pressured to keep up with new Ninja tracks, and any goals I set for myself are actually reachable at this point.

Trying to 0-fault every Level 1 was a goal I set for myself a long time ago, but there was a period of time when people were releasing new tracks faster than I could 0-fault them, so even though I was knocking out a handful of tracks per week, my "percentage complete" for my goal was decreasing. For me that was incredibly annoying.

Since Evo came out and everyone moved on it's been awesome. I know that I have 318 Level 1s to zero, and that's it. If I feel like taking a break from gaming for a week to go out disc golfing or bike riding, I know that I can pick up right where I left off when I get back to Trials. I think my gaming nature developed in this way back in the SNES to N64 days... and I'm just having trouble adjusting to how gaming has evolved, with virtually endless amounts of user-generated content coming out on a daily basis.

So, I know most of you will think it's stupid, but that's my main reason for being hesitant about moving on. I'm not worried at all about the new physics. I know I'll have to adjust, but it won't frustrate me at all to feel like a n00b for a while. I think I'll enjoy the learning curve. I know I'll enjoy the challenge of 0-faulting/platinuming every in-game track, tournament, and skill game. But I'm afraid of Track Central. I know that setting any Ninja-related goals for myself will be impossible, given the amount of "pirate tracks" as well as legitimate Ninja tracks. It's just not feasible anymore. I'd be limited to just playing random Ninja tracks I enjoy, which I know to most of you sounds like fun, but for some reason I need an ultimate goal to work towards...

Therefore I'd probably set TC-related goals to specific creators I admire. For example I'd try to 0-fault/platinum every jook13, BlazingDude123, xIRON WARLORDx, and QcChopper track, just like I did in Trials HD. But even that thought feels a bit daunting to me at the moment. It's the whole "having to keep up" factor that's putting me off, now that I've realized how much more fun and relaxing my Trials HD time is without said factor.

Anyway, I'll just finish up my remaining Level 1s and see how I feel when the time comes.

Gimme a chance to update the Ninja Leaderboard and I'll post links here as well, along with a status update.

Finally, I added my own very old second-try run on picklezz08's Level 3 track, Ambidextrous. The only run on the leaderboard before was picklezz08's own run, and for some reason he removed it from YouTube… so I did this to avoid bumping the track back to the Pending Submissions…
    Platinum / 0 faults on ALL Level 1 Ninja Tracks - 298/318 ? 318/318

Also, since this is one of my goals:
    Platinum / 0-fault runs on ALL BlazingDude123 tracks ?

... I had to address this:

    - I have all the Level 1s zeroed, all the Level 4s and 5s passed, and I already have my first-try or first-pass runs uploaded for a lot of the Level 2s and 3s, so I figured I may as well upload the rest... not only to prove that I've passed all 595 Ninja tracks from Trials HD, but to make sure all the tracks have HD replays as well. Many currently only have replays from people with cell-phone cameras or whatever.

Congrats. I know you'll be busy with the new learning curve and platinum'ing all the Evo tracks but as soon as you get the hang of it, check out those babies. And enjoy the game at your own pace, i cannot stress that enough.
