It's nice to have an in-game issue like this and be confident that SOMETHING will be done about it. I wouldn't have that kind of trust with most game studios.
I also hope they move on it sooner rather than later. Not being an elite rider it doesn't matter to me if they can save people's times and recalculate the totals or if they'll need to reset everyone, but I know that the longer they wait the more upset people will be when/if they have to wipe the slate clean.
i suppose what i'm saying is if they knew for sure there was no fix to this, it wouldn't make sense for them to NOT reset the leaderboards as soon as the server issue was fixed. they wouldn't have a leaderboard system and not know whether this is fixable or not before releasing the game.Originally Posted by xPrOFeSsi0NaL
i trust them and i'm sure they have a plan. it IS Redlynx after all![]()
What is there to stop this happening again though? For whatever reason, if the servers mess up again in a months time then does that mean another reset? Surely there is a better solution!!
We have analyzed this problem. This is exactly the same bug that corrupted Trials HD leaderboards during the DLC launch ("the Ajuvix problem"). If the Xbox Live leaderboard server crashes, some data might be properly sent to the leaderboard, while some data might be lost. If track leaderboard data submission get lost, but the added score will properly be sent to the global leaderboard the problem will occur. The next time you play the track, the score will be added to the global leaderboard (without knowing that it's already counted because the server crash lost the track score), and thus it's counted twice.
We are investigating the best way to fix this, and how many players it affects. Obviously we are not able to do anything to the Microsoft Xbox Live leaderboard servers, but we can probably do some client (game) side changes to fix this issue (to for example allow players to repair their broken scores).
This is very annoying.. Losing 10 hours of game time and starting again is something I really don't want to do. The servers should have been taken offline as soon as the leaderboards started glitching.
Just wondering if I understand this correctly... If there has been a bug with peoples scores then it has only improved their score, not taken away from it? This explains why some people around me on the Global Leaderboard have such a low play time but massive score.![]()
If this is true I would much prefer the scores be reset sooner rather than later. A few days playtime is nothing to lose and there's no way people can't redo what they've already achieved in the game. I really hope this is sorted. If you can fix the bugs and it won't happen again just reset the scores so we can start again with a level playing field.
I don't think it's quite as simple as that. There were 170k people on the leaderboard when I looked last night. It might not be so bad for the regular skilled players but most of those people will be absolutely gutted all their times have disappeared and they have to do them again. Resetting would be an total disaster, especially as 99.9% of the users are totally oblivious to the problem.
I know it would be wrong and annoying but I was just saying that I would prefer to do everything again if it meant a fully functioning leaderboard. Obviously this isn't desirable though. I know a lot of the newer players would hate this though and it may even stop them playing if they lost their scores. I hope there is a good solution available for the devs to use.
Yeah I understand what you're saying and I too hope the Devs can come up with a solution that suits everybody.![]()
