Re: Deleting, Beta Testing or Modifying Uploading Tracks

Yea I put up a test version of my pong for a friend and I was trying to delete and then realized you can't....I hope that a solution will be found because testing is CRUICAL for tracks. ESPECIALLY mini games! To make sure they are working correctly!

For now the best we can do is put inprog, test, WIP, etc. But these will flood track central and be unnecessary. I'm up for a separate section where medals can't be earned or something.

^this is a genius idea, tag track as beta > no leaderboards + option to delete > problem solved
I'm for this lets make it happen!

Great that 5 people can be bothered to answer the poll - yet over 80 have read it.

Is this apathy or laziness ?

Are these people that read but don't contribute, the same peoplel that will just take and take... yet moan, and give nothing back ?

you can, however, create a private multiplayer session and invite friends to play your track before it is shared.

Well that's very interesting - you should put this info. and instructions as to how to do it (!), somewhere on these forum... prominently !

I assume it is using the multiplayer 'Trials mode' - against ghosts ?

As for other comments made, I agree that tagging a track as Beta - and disabling scoring, medals and times - would allow it to be (potentially) delete-able/modifiable and replaced or removed, without causing issues with medals and scores etc. THAT would be a good start !

The biggest issue imo, is that there will be thousands of tracks in a months time - most are not worth keeping... but there will be a lot of very good ones, MISSED...lost in the chaos !

What about an algorithm, that scores each uploaded track on a scale of 1-100% in terms of 'complexity'. Although not an indicator of "quality" necessarily, it gives an indication of whether it's a "play" track someone took 1 hour to make, or a "serious" track, that took a month to make ?

Of course even this has its problems, as some great tracks are short and simple and good fun !!! So, those would be ignored.. so I just don't know !

Maybe a good start would be to have, at least, the "name of the track" / (Score - ****) / Nos. of Reviews / Complexity %.

So, a decent track may have "My Track (5*) (200) (75%) - 200 reviewers give it an average of 5 stars, and it has 75% complexity - suggests to me, it's worth looking at. But this info. needs to be on the main page... no-one is going to trawl through every track icon... unless they're being paid !!!

Re: Deleting, Beta Testing or Modifying Uploading Tracks

Something else that would be helpful I think, is to have some option of hiding tracks I track central, if I see a track named "test" I know is gonna be garbage, and I could "hide" it so it would never show on MY TC again. Or when you delete a track to have the option of not showing that track to you again, that way the more you use track central the more organized it becomes, at least on that users screen.

Re: Deleting, Beta Testing or Modifying Uploading Tracks

Don't worry... it appears that uploaded tracks only last an hour, before being superceded by the latest 50 uploads. The servers appear to be only storing 50 in each category.

    I can't even find the ones I uploaded !

Seems like a waste of time then !!!

Although I guess 'renaming' them and re-upping will do the job - at least for an hour ! ??

    {update: no, you don't even need to rename them - they are simply gone from the server, so you just re-up them and hope a few people manage to download it, before it disappears again !}
