Should we standardize on some TAGs to use? | Forums

I started a thread in the EDITOR forum asking if we should standardize on some specific TAGs to use when creating tracks:

Would appreciate the input of all you track creators.

Yes that is something you should do. It would be smart to put a few letters or so in front of all your track names. This makes it easier for riders to organize their tracks from you and it's easier to find tracks when they go to look through their collection. Most people use a few letters that are associated with their gamer tag. For instance, my gamertag is II GTA FREEK II so I would most likely put GTA in the beginning of all my track names, such as GTA-AWESOME TRACK. Or you might use a symbol such as a $ or a @. This is also helpful for when you make a new track. Anyone who will go to play the track will have an easy time finding it because it will have no medal and will stick out in all the other tracks. You can do whatever you like but it would be smart to keep it consistent.

Well, I thought that people used the "prefix" method just because we didn't have the options we have now (search by user, by tag, view description, show latest, etc).

I'm sure some might still do that when naming tracks, but I hope it isn't necessary like it was in HD.

Oh I think I see what he's saying now. Everything I just said was in regard to organising your tracks for you and everyone else. It probably won't be a necessity in evo when it comes to searching tracks and such.

IDK, depends on how we can sort customs once they're on our hard drives but we'll know soon so it's a good discussion.

In the first big gameplay trailer ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=43tj8X7dQ2s ) at 1:19 - 1:25 you can see the tracks are listed alphabetically. So we should continue using whatever prefix we used in HD.

Now that Evo is out, looks like the tags are NOT user-defineable.
You can just select from existing tags (doh!).

I'm basing this on the drop-down in the search screen.
I haven't figured out yet where you actually DEFINE tags for a track couldn't find it anywhere under track properties).
