Not sure if this is exactly what we're looking for, but the pdf on the page has some very similar equations.
Via one of my twitter followers here is the equation that was posted earlier.

Edit: For anyone thinking the equation Shady has given is different to the one given by fixedpatternencodes.com, it is not... The "x" in ANBA's and the "q" represent the same variables and could be anything
I also think it is important to note that the equation in question is used for "optimization", maybe pointing to evolution/the idea of making things/things getting better angle? Thoughts?
Also the equation has links to image processing and may be a clue towards doing something with an image again..?
