I think the championships need to be streamed online for non competitors to watch - also for competitors not currently competing because obviously there's more than four top riders
Another important thing to consider is keeping the community motivated - I've had a few riding competitions and many of the top riders never enter - that or they think about entering and maybe get the tracks but never submit times - even when I've given out prizes it's not been enough for the best of the best to go at it

Matchmaking I hope will be like this... linked to your rank in the leaderboards.
4-Player multiplayer on challenging tracks would display raw skill and consistency and it's more tournament friendly for guys to jump in and compete. we don't know how long it takes for top players to get a good time on single player tracks in my opinion it would not be an accurate way of determining the "best player". multiplayer is the best way to go for a championship.
Also agree with this.Originally Posted by MurdocLoch

I was going to make the same suggestion and if not streamed then surely an easily accessable save or capture somewhere so we can all enjoy watching the top players battle it out as well as ordinary fans compete.
Probably very useful for trackmakers too.
You've basically got a ready made testing community and you can watch in realtime what obstacles and type of track promote the best competition and how a track is tackled by those of many differing abilities.
i think it was ment as you can fault but cant use the back button so that way its fastest and least faults win.Originally Posted by ChicagoAJ
i do like the hard core idea the most.
the leauge "plat gold silver bronze" idea was also a good one but the skill diffrence in the top 1000 is a rather big gap from around the top 100. so maybe add a dimond section for 1-250 or so.
I may have the wrong idea but i think
I assume these won't be the in-game tracks. I picture a track or tracks from the community chosen by RL or a person or person's chosen by RL, that competitors download from Track Central and compete on for a set amount of time(week/month/season) and at the end of the set amount of time the Top 10 or 50 get points or prizes.Originally Posted by jenkki
You may possibly need to police multi-accts.
This sounds like the most fun. You may have to come up with a way that participants aren't one and done though. Although if each session is best of 3 or 5 i guess that could last 5 or more minutes and would be satisfying even if you lose.Originally Posted by jenkki
One problem with it is it would need a lot of coordination in the later rounds to get 4 riders together at the same time.
You could seed it by rank or division, altho i wouldn't put it past some to sandbag to get into a lower division. You'll need a definitive standard for when someone moves up a division.
I really like the idea of streaming the event. Even if it's just the last 32 or 64. I'd say you'd need at least an hour of content. And if Ubisoft has a new game or Dr. Pepper wants to sponsor it i wouldn't mind advertising in between races/sessions. Maybe even get someone to cast it, i hear someone at RL knows Karl Pilkington, so maybe he and Cannibal can do commentary for the global finals.
I watch MLG events for Halo, but i also watch the finals of Starcraft even tho i've never played it, and Evo should be a lot more easier to understand than SC.
I don't get this one atm. I had to watch the latest trailer and from :48 to 52 i think that's it with the ghosts but im not sure how that would work in a competition.Originally Posted by jenkki
Prizes could be cash, or MS points, or Avatar gear, or custom RL Avatar gear, or RL swag (hoodies/flags etc) or Ubisoft games.
What you need to consider: More people than ever before will buy Trials Evolution---> even better players at the top of the leaderboards.
The idea of the leaderboard based competition is not bad but make the barriers different.
First 10000: Platinum
50000: Gold
100000: Silber
500000: Bronze
> 500000: No medal ( The rest of players)
5 divisions would cover all skill levels. But you may not tell players what division they are. Bad useres get frustrated that way. So each member of the leaderboard only views the tournament he is concerned by. Only release the grouping infos on the forums so the minority (who cares and wants to know it) gets to know.
I guess competitions will be announced through an in game pop up window. You can vary that including the prices (if you have some) for all 5 different groups. Better divisions have chances for higher prices. So it is fair to everyone.
That is exactly what I mean. We did not build this into the menus properly to showcase it enough, but Hardcore Trials means 2-4 players on any single line track of Hard or Extreme difficulty. ("Trials" mode is the same thing, on the lower difficulty settings). So not only do you have the difficulty of playing an Extreme track, you are live, watching the progress of others.Originally Posted by ender3
Exactly what Jenkki said. The tracks may not be hard to platinum by yourself but, when you throw in 3 others, things can get intense quick.
