What's the best way to get more points?
I'm stuck at round about 2000 on the +DLC leaderboards...about 2400 on original leaderboard. I've been going through the tracks again trying to improve my time but I seem to have hit a wall in terms of climbing the leaderboards. I still have a couple of gold to get but got 86 plats, what is the best/quickest way to increase my score considerably above improving my platium scores?

Easily the quickest way to get points is to 0 fault the tracks. You also get a ton of points from skill games and tournaments. Best = aim to get platinum on all the tracks first then see how it goes from there.

Go for the Skill Games you don't have Platinum in, then go for the max on each. You'll be rolling in the points.

Yep, spreadsheet is the most complete wasy to see where you can improve.
See also the "Global Score Calculator" link in my SIG for a forum thread that talks about how to use it.
If you don't want to use the spreadsheet, here is a quick thumbnail guide:
Races:*
Gold: 110,000pts
Platinum: 164,000pts
Max score: 165k-175k for most tracks, with 190k as the very highest (Underground using shortcut)
Extremely severe penalty for faults!
(Each fault multiplies the score by 0.1, so a platinum run with 1 fault would be only 16,400 pts!)
As you can see, there is less "room" for higher scores here, even for a top 10 run.
* DLC hard and extreme tracks use a different fault multiplier:
DLC Hard: 0.5 multiplier, platinum is 180k, max is 183k-189k
DLC Extreme: 0.75 or 0.8 multiplier, platinum is 190k or 192k, max is 193k-197k
Tournaments
Gold: 175,000pts
Platinum: 190,000pts
Max score: 191k-195k
A platinum is worth a lot more here, and the fault penalizer is only 0.75, but let's see what this means:
0 fault platinum time: 190,000
1 fault: 142,500
2 faults: 106,875
3 faults: 80,157
So 47,500 is still a pretty substantial penalty for that one fault.
Skill games:
Gold: 100,000pts
Platinum: 160,000pts
Max score: Up to 199,000 for some games
As you can see, there is a LOT of room for more points above a platinum. I already had a platinum, but increased my Inside the Ball score the other day, and gained about 30,000 pts.

Re: What's the best way to get more points?
So based on all that, my recommendation to improve your score/global ranking is:
1. Make sure all your race tracks have 0 faults, even if the times are still gold.
(As far as you reasonably can, anyway. I still have a couple of extremes that cause me grief.)
2. Level up your skill games as far past platinum as you can.
Broken Bones and Ski Jump games are relatively easy to do with a single lucky run. Others won't be as easy, but the very large score increases are worth it.
3. Try to get your tournament faults down, ignoring time.
I really think that tournaments are neglected by the majority of players, so some relatively minor improvements will have you moving up the charts pretty quickly.
Only after that would I start to go back and improve individual race track times
(You might choose to improve your times for other reasons, of course. I have a goal to have all my tracks in the top 5000, so I have a viewable replay. I'm about 3/4ths of the way there)
Good luck!

Re: What's the best way to get more points?
MegaTrain you absolute legend!! Thanks for the other info guys but MegaTrain swept you all away there!
Sweet well I've got no faults on almost all tracks so might need to concentrate on lowering my faults in the tournaments, I've still got plenty that have at least one. I did see that excel spreadsheet on this forum before and downloaded it but found it a bit difficult to interpret...I think I'll just keep coming back to this thread to keep myself updated as it gives me a good general idea.
I can't believe faults cost you so many points, it's crazy! I'll need to get platinum on Diabolic as well seeing as I still have 13
Cheers again guys, I knew this forum would help me in my quest to crack the hard shell of the top two thousand
