    Input lag

Quick question for the devs. As I bought an LED (had a plasma before) Trials HD is unplayable because of the input lag.
The lag doesn`t affect the playabillity of COD, Pinball and even Super Meat Boy. But in Trials HD it does and it`s awful.
    Finally the question:
Will there be some type of calibration for it like in Guitar hero? Thank you for an answer.

    Re: Input lag

a small question, i'm not really able to help you but did you try to check every feature of your new LED TV or did you plug it with the default settings.... there SHOULD BE some settings to lower that lag (hopefully)

try do the settings in the xbox itself under the console settings, then display settings try some of them see if that helps

    Re: Input lag

The way I understand the calibration in Guitar Hero, and RockBand, is that it just renders the on-screen notes earlier and sets a delay relative to their position. When you play, you can see the notes pass beyond the "score zone", but because of calibration it accepts them beyond the normal threshold.

Some older, and even new, LED-LCD tvs have pretty bad lag that can creep into the .1-.150ms range. As a gamer, that's huge lag. Check to see if your TV has Motion Plus or a Game Mode. Disable Motion Plus and Enable Game Mode, or post your Make and Model number and I'll research it for you really quick.

Calibration in Guitar Hero is possible, because all you see in the screen is prerecorded (both video & music). It just plays the music and video with slightly different delays and allows you to input your notes late (to compensate the delay). Latency calibration like this is not possible for interactive games.

Trials HD is a highly physics based game and runs at 60 fps. The game reacts to your inputs very precisely and quickly. Many other console games do not react to your inputs as quickly (run at 30 fps and have controls with more built in lag). This is why you don't see much difference with those other games. The physics based nature of Trials HD demands very low input lag, since you have to quickly react to the bike response at all times.

Almost all new HDTV sets have a game mode that disables all the extra TV post processing and display the image immediately without noticeable lag. Try to find that option in your TVs settings, and activate the game mode, and you should be able to play Trials HD with no problems.

    Re: Input lag

my LED tv didn't have a game mode. so i had to turn of all the extra settings the tv had to improve the picture. the less processing it does, the less the lag.

i get no (noticeable) lag and play everything fine.

if you still get lag then take the tv back. i took the first one i bought back and told them it was because of game lag and they swapped it no problems.

    good luck anyways

Thanks @ all for your answers and postings.
I already tried everything, searched the web over and over for solutions. I have a LG LV (or LW don`t know right now)570S.
I switched off all the "enhancing" stuff, set the HDMI Input to "PC", even tried to lower the resolution on my xbox.
But it`s ok then. So I will keep my Plasma and an old Xbox for Trials Evolution and HD.

    Re: Input lag

Have you tried using the Xbox component video cable instead of the HDMI? Perhaps the analog signal will not be subject to the lag. Perhaps your tv can have a game mode on that input. I know our tvs have game mode only for certain inputs.

    Re: Input lag

The HDMI has a PC/Game Mode. BUt the lag I experience is still too heavy. But maybe it`s because I was used to lagfree Trialsriding for 2 years. That`s maybe why it is unaccaptable and unplayable in my case.

    Re: Input lag

Try selecting 1080p output from the Xbox settings. The Xbox video scaler doesn't have any lag. Most HDTV sets have at least one extra frame of latency if the input is 720p (the TV has to scale the image to 1080p full hd resolution).
