Can we literally play as anything?

In the trailer we saw it all. You could play as a bike rider, a helicopter from the side view, some kind of fighter jet, a race car, a pinball machine, a foosball table, a giant bowling ball and even a guy in first person. In an interview it was said the only limit is your imagination. So is this it? Can we literally make any kind of game we wanted? If I wanted a 3rd person platformer could I do it? If I wanted to make a gametype where you control the map itself and have to tilt to navigate random objects across it, could it be done? Could I choose whether or not my character can swim? Could I choose how long he can last underwater? Hell, could someone make a working submarine if they wanted? Could somebody even make a crazy *** world with all kinds of evil puzzles, switches, ladders, underwater mazes, indoor places with flickering lights so at times it will be pitch black, and Indiana Jones style boulder chases if they wanted?

Also can we download other people's game types, then use them in our own maps?

    A 3rd person platformer?
I don't think they can go together?

What do you mean? Most platformers are in a 3rd person perspective. (you can see the character you're controlling). I can't even think of a 1st person platfotmer. Maybe Mirrors Edge?

I think he was refering to the fact that it would be hard to model a character walking, running, jumping etc, and going into 1st person resolves this. Other than that, not a clue

Hey James, this will have to be answered by the Redlynx guys who have been pounding away in the editor. Most of the forum users, and myself, haven't had any hands on time with the game so we can't answer.

Please don't be too frustrated if nobody has a chance to answer really soon though, they're working hard on the game.

Swimming: ANBA has mentioned that the player can sorta/kinda swim, so I'm not even going to guess what he meant.

I could see how the "tilting world" game, and navigating a ball through it, *could* work, but it's just speculation and based on some of the public bits of Evo and tools from Trials HD. I'll go ahead and get into it as an exercise.

    1. Build your level, everything that you want to tilt, and glue it all together. (From THD)

    2. Glue all of that to a single object placed in the center of your level. (Also from THD)

    3. Set a control that allows you to use gamepad inputs to tilt the level from the point you created in the previous step. (Speculation based on Evolution's Control remapping talked about in other threads/interviews)

    4. Place a ball, or similar object, into the level and enable physics (THD).

    5. Lock the camera to the ball (from previously released info for Evolution).

    6. TEST! - Your control would be strictly over the level and the ball should move freely in a (closely) physically accurate way.

Please remember that this is just speculation and could be totally inaccurate.

Also, if you can make a 1st Person Shooter, then I would suspect that a 1st Person Platformer is possible. I have no idea if/how a 3rd Person Platformer would work.

i'm gonna guess and say yes you can do all that stuff. that certainly seems to be what they're hinting at anyway.

i imagine the only limits would be stuff like making an actual proper game, like where your character can do new moves as they progress and stuff. i'm bieng super vague but you get me right? like an RPG, i don't think you'd be able to make a genuine RPG.

i'm just guessing though of course!
