    Trials Evolution Tournement (In Real Life)

    Hi,

    To avoid going out of my mind until Evo is released, I have just been thinking about a few things. I am especially looking forward to the multiplayer aspects of this game, and the idea of playing this in real time with friends... then I started thinking about the tournaments that were held at places like Gamescom and ComicCon NY.

    So my question and the purpose of this thread;

    If you were arranging a Trials Evo tournament for a live venue/people of different skill levels etc, how would you do it? You'd have to make it fair so everyone had a chance, but then some process of filtering out the noobs and crowning a single winner at the end of it.. I think it would also be awesome to have different categories for motocross 4p and single player...

    I didn't see how the ones worked so if you went to the ones mentioned above, what was good about them and what would you change?

    How would you set it up so it was interesting to follow for everyone and good to watch also?

    I am wondering as Im thinking about trying to organise something like this but was interested in the best way to do this.... Could be for a bunch of mates or could be much bigger?

    Let me know what you'd do?

    Lets assume there are brackets. The first set of brackets include 3 Medium/Hard tracks. The top 2 finishers advance. In the event of a tie, another track is played. As the ladder progresses, mix Medium/Hard/Extreme tracks. The 'Semi-Finals' & 'Finals' would be a best of 5 with just Hard/Extreme tracks.

    I think it would be interesting to see who is better at first runs. Would playing it safe be good enough for a win? If you're in 2nd and see that the rider in front is ahead by about a second, how much are you willing to risk a fault to take them over? Pretty nerve racking stuff now that I think about it. Really hope there are some long tracks that take about 2mins to complete on a good run. Should make for an exciting show.

    Would be way better having tournaments online though. Problem is that there aren't too many great trials riders from the same area. If the ranking system was an actual representation of skill, the difference in skill between a rank 200 and a rank 80 is huge. The difference between a rank 80 and a rank 40 is even greater...and so on.

    I would try to have at least 4 xbox consoles available to me so that no-one gets spawn bumped. It seems great for local multiplayer, but for a competition I don't think that it would be the most "fair" way to do it.

    4 consoles over a network, maybe on XBL, in a privately hosted game. Eat round would consist of 3 races, most points wins the round. 1st and 2nd in each round move forward, 3rd and 4th, sadly, do not.

    That's just how I would do it. I haven't been to GamesCon or E3 or PAX or... You get the point.

    Well, shifty never going to have new info related to evo. So in this sense, yes he's just another bum forum user who can call people a bad boy and threaten them if he doesn't like what they say.

    I think none of you have seen that it says "Developer", not "Moderator" anymore under his name...

    Btw. if that´s true... Congrats Shifty!

    Isn't shifty just a glorified moderator? Or is he actually going to have some inside information now?
