Interesting! I didn't realize that holding RT and tapping LT is actually better, I've been using the tap both method for a few months now thanks to someone pointing it out in a replay.
I did not know that this could be used for extra rotation while in-air... I'll have to experiment with this as I find myself needing it more and more often.
The difficult part about knowing all this now is that people are designing tracks that FORCE you to use this technique. Which really makes my sub-ninja skills seems even worse. :-/
I've known about using this technique for recovery for a very long time but I never knew it made you flip faster in the air. I'm going to try improving my Flip Hunter scores now.![]()
I have found, at least for me anyway, that holding RT and tapping X ( instead of LT) produces a much faster flip/front tire save. I think it has to do with the fact that pressing the X button gives you instant 100% of the gas/accelerate input. <--- That doesn't make a lot of sense. You know what I mean.![]()
Yeah, I kind of wish this technique didn't exist. I think of it as a physics exploit. Oh well, it's here to stay so we might as well learn to use it to our advantage. Also, the glitch where you can land on your head and recover from it is fixed in Evolution. People were also designing tracks with this technique in mind. It really kills the flow of some hardcore tracks.Originally Posted by 8Complex
That makes perfect sense. It seems like that would be awkward but effective.Originally Posted by ShoeboxGorilla
Easily my favorite technique in Trials.Originally Posted by jhitman
Is this something we want to see implemented in Trials evolution aswell? The physics engine builds on that used in trials hd. Since this technique is in a way a glitch, the devs might want to take it out of evolution.
Then the top players would have to learn how to land all over again. If it's not in Evo, you won't see me competing near the level that I did/am in HD.Originally Posted by kobe745

Nice. That's a good illustration of how it can be used as a recovery technique.
Guess I'll wait till I get home to see how its used to increase in-air flips, unless someone wants to upload Kobe745's new run?
Are you referring to this technique of pumping the gas/brake to increase rotation/recover, or another technique?Originally Posted by jhitman
