A question that is raging inside me for a long time.
Since very intelligent people do not tend to get kids/marry, from this point of view it is only logical that manking must become more stupid.
Still we are reaching more and more in terms of technology...
Nevertheless I think that we have somehow lost track of the really important things.
In earlier stages of our history we sent a man to the moon, invented a chemical classification system and the nuclear energy.
Now thinking of our time what have we achieved? Did we lose track of what we know because we know so overwhelmingly much or is it just that through evolution we have become more stupid than we were 100 of years ago?
In my time: The World Wide Web was invented.

and second: You're implying that intelligence is inherited? lol
People are just as smart today as they've ever been.
Just keep drinking your Brawndo, and we'll all be flying around in hover cars before you know it![]()
Intelligence isn't completely inherited. It's also based on environmental factors.Originally Posted by Happyflow

I'd say stupider.
In the US, atleast.
The math scores for the US have been on a downward spiral for the past like, 10 years.
I think there's an inverse relationship between the intelligence of humans and computers.
The US is using more calculators and automatic machines to do things for us than a large majority of the rest of the world. And today's youth is really tomorrow's force for progression.
Look at India. Those kids are geniuses. Why? Not becuase they're Indian, but because they're learning to do the same things that we are, WITHOUT calculators.
We need to stop becoming dependent on technology, and rather learn by experience and understanding. Not by remembering HOW to acquire information, but WHY it is it develops that way.
Overall, stupider.
Sure, we are advancing in technology, but those are the high end people at the top of the chain. The middle and lower classes are what make up the majority, and that majority is not necessarily getting smarter...
Incorrect, we're smarter today than we've ever been. That's why we're able to look at the past and say "They thought those clothes looked good? They were so stupid!"Originally Posted by nannerdw![]()
"Stupider"? Alright... Labeling the Middle and Lower class as people who are dumb/stupid/blah blah blah, is a stereotype. There have always been far more people who don't understand how something works than those who know how it does.Originally Posted by bDIdol
Being stupid means you lack intelligence.
Being ignorant means you lack knowledge.
EXAMPLE!
If you pee on an electric fence once, then you were ignorant. If you do it again, then you are stupid.
