Why not keep us up to date on whats going on?

From what I've read about the XBLA schedule for releasing games, you have to find a slot on that schedule months before the game actually releases. So if the game is close to being done they should have a slot for it and a good idea when it will release, why not keep us up to date on it? Maybe it's changed over time but that's what I've read on it. Since it's being published by MS, and they make the rules, maybe they can put it out whenever they want.

I understand it will release when it's done and I'm fine with the developers saying this, or even getting delayed from the date they should give. Why not give a smaller release window other than just saying 2012 is the year? Why not give us which Quarter of the year it will release in? If it won't be until the summer or fall, that's fine, just tell us that. I'm tired of waking up every morning hoping to see any news about Evolution, yet I've been disappointed everyday for months now. I know this is partly my fault, but that's how much I'm looking forward to Evolution. I just don't see what the big deal is about keep your fans up to date on this. Is it really that big of a deal?

It can be, yes. I used to work for a large internet company, and release dates were a huge deal. As far as I understand, Ubisoft is a publicly traded company, and that makes things like this even more sensitive, because a game like Trials can have an effect on their bottom line for the quarter.

Knowing and dealing with the people at RedLynx over the past few years, I'm sure that they are dying to tell us everything that they can (except that ANBA, who likes to keep his secrets), but even things like having an XBLA exclusive likely mean that Microsoft has a say as to when the release date will be announced.

I can go into more depth and provide more examples if you want, but those are a couple reasons why we may not have heard much yet.

I know MS has a say when Evolution releases, they are the ones publishing it. As far as them not announcing something because of the bottom line, why do Ubisoft and other big publishers announce them on all their other games and not Evolution? Surely full retail games would have a bigger impact on that than an XBLA game.

The reason I'm even wondering about this is because I don't think Evolution is releasing anytime soon(like they are claiming) and not until mid-April at the earliest because of Microsofts XBLA House Party promotion, which begins mid-February and ends mid-March. I don't see MS wanting to take sales away from the games in that promotion. If it was close to releasing, I think MS would have included it in that promotion. I think MS are going to wait and release it in their Summer of Arcade promotion. I really hope I'm wrong about this though.

i for 1 will not take up a bundle offer with evo in it.
RL deserves 100% of my MSP.
other developers would just be leeching of the back of evo if it were in a bundle.
any way im sure MS are a little smarter than putting a xbla game of this quality in something like that.

i think i had something else to say... cant remember.

I doubt I'm the only one who feels this way, don't forget about the fans, we are the people who will be purchasing the game afterall.

If they had forgotten about the fans, they would not have provided all of this info:
    http://www.redlynxgame.com/forum/vie...hp?f=77&t=7011

Also, if they'd forgotten about us, they would not still be reading the forums every day.

Game companies are all about keeping secrets and restricting their staff from saying anything until the time is right. Im sure most of the devs are not involved in these decisions, they are simply told "don't say anything" and normally, it is a pretty serious issue if they broke thier silence. These are a bunch of developers that have invested a huge amount of time in this community and forum, and I bet they are dying to tell us everything...

Someone, Microsoft or RL management have made a decision and we all have to accept that. I'd love to see more info, but until the right people say its ok to talk about it, we just have to accept it. Not saying you were, but don't take it out on the devs, they are just doing their jobs and what their boss has told them to do.. If I were in thier shoes, I would do the exact same thing.

Im just assuming all of this, but I would bet a considerable amount of money that this is similar to what is happening (PS, I dont have much money so a considerable amount if a relative term)
