If you enjoyed the book I´d read it AND watch the show. I liked both very much. Of course, the show shortened the story a bit or let out details but the production is really good.Originally Posted by HardkoreMan

I'm reading (and finished all except for the most recent book) The last apprentice. Basically about a boy who becomes apprentice to a spook, who deals with witches and that sort of thing. I think its a great series. Its called the Wardstone chronicles in the UK.
Also, this book is a "Childrens series" But, it really shouldnt be haha. Lots of blood, death and that sort of thing.

^^^ I remeber seeing the TV adaptation of that. I quite enjoyed it actually.
I mostly read fantasy novels never lost my interest in them. Started reading novels with the release of Eragon 1 and finished the series lately
I also read The Dwarfs (all 4 books), the Elves (only one of them), the Orcs (all 2).
Furthermore I read Harry Potter and the Halo Trilogy.
I also love reading Stephen King. He is one of the best writers out there. In my opinion his best book (or at least one of his best) is Misery. Never read something better.
Saw a book today, wouldnt usually be my kind of thing but it was very intriguing.... its called "the slap". Sounds like a paul jenningsish title, lol, but yeah, sounds really good.... any one read it? I just wanna know if its worth the time.
Oh and "World War Z".... again, any recommendations?
I definitely Grok Shifty!Originally Posted by ShiftySamurai
If you're into light sci-fi, I'd recommend the Foundation series by Isaac Asimov. Or another Heinlein classic, Starship Troopers.
If you're into something with a little deeper meaning, definitely give Kurt Vonnegut Jr. a chance with Slaughterhouse Five. Also, the Dune series from Frank Herbert is a very good, slightly heavy series.
Some other suggestions from a random assortment of genres:
Watership Down - Richard Adams
Fahrenheit 451 - Ray Bradbury
Breakfast of Champions - Kurt Vonnegut Jr.
The Great Gatsby - F. Scott Fitzgerald (may seem like a boring old classic at first glance, but man is this a good one)
The Art of War - Sun Tzu
Watchers - Dean Koontz (in my humble opinion, one of the best among his very large oeuvre)
That's it for now. I could talk about books for days. By the way, Shifty, I wouldn't mind reading another excerpt or two from your work. I quite enjoyed the first one.
