So I'm not sure if there has been a thread about books recently so sorry if this thread is pointless. But I was just wondering what people are reading, have read, what their favorite book was or is.My favorite books so far have been the Hunger Games trilogy.I'm currently reading THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO.Its good but kinda boring in the first half.Anyone read any of these books also? Please no spoilers.
I liked "only forward" by michael marshall smith, very abstract... currently reading "saga of seven suns" by kevin j anderson, just starting book 3... excellently constructed universe... each chapter changes who's point of view you see... I think theres around 20 characters all with intertwined storys... very intelligently put together.
I´ve read the complete Millenium Trilogy. The books are getting real good in my opinion so hang on.
At the moment I´m reading "A Song of Ice and Fire", the third book to be precise. I really liked those books in the beginning, but it gets harder and harder to read with each chapter atm. I dont know if it counts as a spoiler, but here´s why: I dont like the inflationary use of letting main characters die![]()
Books ??.... there them paper things kids look at, at school right![]()
I have had the first one for about 2 years now but I keep putting it off.... think ill have to give it a go once I finish the saga of seven suns.Originally Posted by xXDonReneXx

Does it measure up to the book? I have read a couple of chapters and enjoyed it, just got distracted by other books...Originally Posted by xXDonReneXx
There was a book thread a while back, but searching for it comes up with everything from "Is Marathon too Hard?" to a self-promoting jerks attempt to pass along a free (if not very good) book that he had written (Look in post #7 on the 3rd page).
Books that I enjoy:
Stranger in a Strange Land - Robert Heinlein:
It's a freakin' Science Fiction classic. I think it should be required in High School over some of the crap that they make people read.
Daemon/FreedomTM - Daniel Suarez:
Another good read, lots of things that are possible, but I don't know if they would really happen. Would you like to become a level 9 mechanic? Earn "runes" and other items to help you in your life? This book shows a single possibility for a world that has been merged into, what is essentially, WoW.
Stephen King:
I like quite a few King books, from Christine to Carrie, The Dome to Needful Things. Stephen King has had more thrilling horror books than flops, but you need to know that there are certainly some poor examples in his catalog.
Dean Koontz:
I am currently reading 77 Shadow Street. Dean Koontz is one of only 2 authors whom I feel compelled to purchase hardcover copies of their work. Most of his stories are about the power of love, which can come across as hokey garbage, but please, if you haven't read The Good Guy, Tick Tock, The Husband, From The Corner of His Eye, or the many other great works by him, then you are missing out as a reader.
W.E.B. Griffin:
Griffin writes some of the best historically accurate combat novels that I have seen. Sure, they aren't on par with the thriller aspects of Tom Clancy's novels, but that in no way makes them bad. I suggest you read The Corps, and if that floats your boat, keep reading the others in the series.
Tom Clancy:
I feel that Tom's earlier works were better. Some of his later works got into too much technical detail. I don't care how many 3/4 inch rivets are on the starboard wing tip of a Raptor jet. That being said, Rainbow Six is a great book, NetForce is as well. Be careful though, many books that say "Tom Clancy" aren't actually written by him. They are just a progression of the characters by licensed authors.
Ok, that's all I'm going to post for right now.

Here you go.
I've read the Millenium Trilogy and quite enjoyed it. It's one of those books you don't want to put down. Afterwards I thought it was only average, but the process of reading it is very satisfying and fun.
Also, It's too hardcore for me, but my friend is currently reading this book by JG Ballard. It has a chapter in it titled "Why I Want to **** Ronald Reagan."brilliant! That chapter is written like an academic science paper. Here is a quote:
"A slow motion film of Reagan's speeches produced a marked erotic effect in an audience of spastic children."
It's probably passages like that which ensured the first edition got pulped in America. Lol.
