Hello all.
So my PC has a virus, and it's one of those ones where it ceases to allow you access to any programs really by saying it's infected with a virus and asking you to buy their product.. well, here's what I've done so far..
I ran DrWeb Control Center off of the Linux OS that comes with a disc I downloaded it onto, and it found some shtuff, and I cured it all, and it should've gotten rid of it, but it didn't... so I found the location of the program, which was called omq.exe and located in my Application Data folder. So I deleted it, which I was HOPING would've cured it. Well, I didn't think it would, since the file was only 345KB in size, so it was some shortcut. Well, in deleting it, I must've stirred the hive or something, because now when I try to open any program, it says "WARNING: Cannot find C://WINDOWS/system32/rundll32.exe No application found" So I went into the folder, and it looks like the rundll32.exe file has been cut in half, regarding size, and the icon is changed to a page instead of an .exe, which has something to do with it.
So I got on my dad's computer, copied his rundll32.exe and put it back into my folder on my PC.. well the image icon got changed instantly and it was useless yet again, so there is something constantly running that is changing the file in the background, but I have no idea what to do now..
...I'm scared. I don't want to lose all my stuff. I have a lot of junk I want to keep on this PC, like songs, music, movies, games, saves, all of it. And so now I turn to you, my humble dudes.
PLEASE, tell me what to do, if you know how... I'm about to get on Google and ask about this stuff, but I'll ask you guys as well. So, if you know ANYTHING about how to fix this problem, please help me.
UPDATED
So I ran the Avast Boot Scan, moved the crap to the chest, and now I'm stuck with a different problem.
I can't access the internet. It says it's connected to my router and there's access, but it isn't sending or receiving any packages for some reason..
I'm kinda lazy and I don't know where to begin on this one.
ANY advice on ANYthing at all is welcomed, so please, just spit out your ideas.
Thankee so much.

UPDATED
So I tried deleting the Ethernet drivers so Windows would automatically reinstall them so they would work, but to no avail.
Ran multiple virus scans that boot off discs, like Avast, AVG, fproot.... none worked (That is to say I still have a virus). Finally, I just said "F*CK IT" and formatted my drives, deleted partitions.. etc. Starting from scratch again.
Pachinko, thanks for all the suggestions tho, guys.

No no no no, you Google first and ask questions laterOriginally Posted by bDIdol![]()
The first result for "rundll32.exe virus".. It mentions that the .exe's icon changes to a page icon, same as your issue. Hopefully this works for you and isn't too complicated![]()
Hot diggity, I was just looking at this, too.
However, I don't know how to search for files that have been recently modified or changed, which is what he does.
Well, if you know how to help me on THAT part, feel free. But thanks anyways for the help.
trythat helps my computer a few times and last for 1 year if try geting hold ofavast free anti virusin fact every1 should try get it it has tons of stuff on there 2 help keep ur computer running ive been using that along with avast just 2 keep my pc free of nasty's lolhirens boot cd
Use AVG Free+Malware.
My computer's like a nun with a chastity belt. Theres no way the *****'s gettin a virus.
lol I can't use applications or programs because rundll32.exe is corrupt. The file is necessary in order to run any programs or apps, i.e. any anti-virus software.
...or basically any software for that matter.
Anyways, I ran a search on recently modified files and found under C:/WINDOWS/Prefetch a bunch of RUNDLL32.EXE files that were recently modified in some way, so I went ahead and deleted them... (Not a safe decision, but I took the risk..)
Well, I can run programs now and it's all back to normal, only it won't start up my Firewall, nor will it let me access the internet at all. OR allow Avast to use RealTime Shields. At all. So I set Avast to do a boot-time scan and restarted the computer.
The scan is now at around 96% completed, I'll check it again here in a little bit.
Well, wish me luck! I may come back if I can't fix my internet or Firewall..
after the virus scan try get hold of hirens boot cd and stick it on cd/dvd as it can run a mini xp with out the use of any Op system i use it when im fixing laptops that have virus that wont let it boot up works with pc aswell
lol the virus is gone, all I'm left with is a broken PC.
thats good its gone might have 2 try a system restore now
I don't want to regress my PC. I don't have a restore point, so it'll most likely reset it to it's default state. I ain't takin chances.
It's just an internet connection issue now, there's no need to do a system restore.
