New Dashboard Low Arcade Game Prominence

Does anyone else feel the new dashboard seems to have downgraded the importance of arcade games by trying to show so much on the one set of options squares ?

Of course you can still find the various arcade and indie options in there but it's going to be difficult for any arcade game to get much attention purely from the front end unless Microsoft go big on it.

Which is why I'm posting here because if I was an arcade producer like RedLynx I would feel a little sad that it's that much harder to get an arcade game noticed.

If Evo turns out as great as it promises then hopefully all that won't matter, particularly if RedLynx gets the press it deserves in the magazines.
But I still miss the way the arcade and indie games were layed out.

    Maybe it's just me though.

It's not just you. They seem to be focusing more on their new features rather than what actually makes money; games. I miss seeing arcade ads in the "spotlight" section.

I would assume that XBLA games, especially ones that MS are involved with, will be prominently displayed in that big box on the home screen. I agree that the previous dash did a better job of highlighting some games than the newer one seems able to do.

    Only time will tell though.

I had a routine when i turned on xbox.. check messages, have a look for anything new on arcade and demos, flick threw avatars to see who playing what then start my game..

Now its all stupid I don't bother looking for anything.. just turn on and play.. and if anything new comes out ill miss it till I find out.. I've lost interest in any themes or anyone's avatar.. and the games section is too many button presses away to care..

there's an easy way of seeing the new arcade, indie, on demand and xbox original games.
simply scroll to games menu. click game type and there you have arcade, indie, on demand and xbox original games. click on any of them and its put the games into order of most resent released.
    hope this helped you

The new dashboard has made me turn off my xbox several times before I even started playing a game.

That would be the way I referred to as in there. It may sound simple but it's more protracted than the original way the dash was set up. You also have to manually change from newest release to highest rated etc. It's simply not as friendly or as easy to navigate arcade stuff as it was. The more clicks and options you have to navigate the less people will go through the bother.

I too had a routine of looking through arcade and indie etc. which never took me long.

I just hope there's a future update for the dash as I'm honestly not that impressed by it myself.
