I think on some runs we already got 1.700 or 1.800 points. So what's so golden about that run time?

The "golden time", along with the other medal times, is set manually before-hand. The person setting the times sets it so it's barely possible to reach, though sometimes he doesn't think of alternative routes/timesavers (here's where the 700 or 800 points come in). This time is then used then used to calculate the amount of points awarded for a run.
