Mock-ups are one thing, but actually using it is totally different. I personally don't mind the boxes. What I greatly dislike is that they clearly designed it for kinect (minority of xbox users) with seemingly little regard for the controller (majority).Originally Posted by ShiftySamurai
For me, the main problem is that they made it slightly less intuitive. I miss having all the arcade game, demos, videos, etc just a stick-flick away. Now you have to go into a specific section. It's not hard to navigate, it's just a step backwards.
Netflix took the biggest hit. It feels so clunky with it's slight input delay, of which the main dash has non. And having to bring up an on-screen menu to pause/play when you used to just hit the start button is lame. I really hope they fix that.
I'd like them to add the option of having the smoothness of the "old" dash instead of the fast "page turning". I can understand that makes perfect sense for kinect. I even mimicked a kinect by waving my hand whilst thumbing the stick and it oddly felt right. But I don't have a kinect and don't wanna wave my hand at nothing just so it feels less strange.
EDIT
I don't recall getting an email about the new dash, although I had seen previews. Again, it's a lot different using it than just seeing someone quickly go through it in a video.
i dont care if it was global, most people have better things to do than check screenshots of an upcoming xbox dashboard and send feedback.
just because we could have had a warning of what was to come doesnt mean we have to be ok with it when it gets here.
i had no email from microsoft and the first i heard about getting the dash early was after it was already here. i had a quick look on the xbox forums for 'dashboard feedback' or something similar and found nothing and that is more than most are willing to go.
I didn't get an email. 100% sure.
I can't access Kyoshi's avatar quickly. That pisses me off!! And instead of a giant icon where my Skyrim is, I now get an even more gigantic add! And I can't keep effective track of the games I most recently played.
IT-SUCKS-BALLS!
i agree with bobo, it feels like a step backwards and it shouldnt take mountains of bad feedback for them to see that their changes have made the dashboard less user-friendly.
they tried to fix something that wasnt broken and in my opinion, made it much worse. i wont lose sleep over it but its still annoyed me.
They are using the same style format with Windows 8 and Windows phones to make it all more cohesive. Kinda like Apple does across their devices.
Forgot to mention no longer being able to press Y for "space" in netflix even though you can in bing. That, combined with the input lag, leads me to believe this version of netflix is unfinished. Probly part of why it was delayed a few hours.
I got an email a day before it came out on the 6th. I honestly don't think it would have made a difference to voice our concerns or ideas. I'm pretty sure xbox doesn't listen to their community at all, unless there just pretending to. They do what they want and charge us for it regardless if we like it or not. Well before this update I got a couple hundred people to suggest to xbox to make the friends list bigger and it didn't happen. It might in the future, but I doubt it. People post threads all the time suggesting ideas to make xbox better and I never see any of them happen. I can deal with the new dash although like I've said I liked the original launch one the best, but these new Terms are a load of crap. I feel they breach my right to privacy and screw me out of money when my stuff breaks, because they're not liable to fix or replace it. Stuff usually breaks right outside of the warranty date too. I wish you could press left at the beginning of your Queue to go to the end of your Queue instead of holding RB.Originally Posted by bobozilla

I received an email close to 6 months ago that showed and explained some of the new features that they have been working towards. This included screen shots of essentially the same GUI now being used.
The main reason I don't hate it is because I don't just sit and do things on the 360's dash. I play games. I don't even watch TV or movies on the thing. I would if true broadband was available where I live, but it's not. As long as I can accomplish the same things from the guide menu, then they can make the GUI look like Windows 3.1 for all I care.
I do think that their reason behind the friend list limit has gone away. Supposedly it had to do with the original Xbox's architecture, those can't log on to XBL anymore, so there's no good reason that more friends aren't allowed.
So to sum this all up, Xbox screwed up by changing the dashboard which wasn't needed at all and 99% of people are pissed off completely such as myself who got f$%#ed over the most.Stuff like this really makes me consider a damn ps3 even though thats got issues as well. This goes back to the old saying "if it ain't broke don't f%$#ing fix it".
