Just jumping on to say i finally bought the PC version of the game. Steam has a sale on today for $2.49USD!!! I have never been able to make the switch back to PC as ive played the 360 version so damn much, but had to buy it at this price. I doubt ill ever get good at it, but just had to post in this thread as I dont think I even have before.
Just updating. I finished inferno last night. First attempt was 1 hour and over 1000 faults (seriously) and not complete. Second try I got it with 476 faults and about 45 minutes.
Seriously that is a tough track. Ive only played the game for 7 hours total so was happy with that effort but hard to watch you guys do this in 30 seconds!!!
Won't really try and improve because I'm having a break til evo drops but had to jump on and say I did it. Another great RL game.
I will say the website and interface is much better than hd. Lets hope that we get that back with evo. Including pc based leader board and stats.
WOW! 7 hours of gameplay and you already beat inferno?? I think this shows that skills transfer from one game to the other. (See Lestropie) btw Fatshady, does Lestropie ever play anymore?Originally Posted by FatShady
Didnt think of it but i guess you are right, while it feels like a completely different game, the skills do transfer... but it was so frustrating because I looked at inferno and if that track was in HD i would be able to pass it easily... but with the new (old) physics it was MUCH harder.Originally Posted by mike99
I dont think Lestropie plays anymore (he is also a fellow Aussie btw) but he does lurk from time to time. I spoke to him a few months ago so he is certainly still around. But he made a good point, that there are plenty of other games to also be playing.
But thanks man, I was happy to complete the track. Normally I would never be satistifed with over 400 faults but Im happy. I doubt ill go back and try to improve.. just too frustrating.
Bring on EVO.
EDIT: Awesome, I finally get to display my Trials 2 stats (as bad as they are) in the forums too!!!! Now I truly am part of the cool kids!!!
EDIT 2: I should also point out i did this with 360 controller so it felt a little more normal. It actually works really well I think.
I totally agree that skills transfer from one game to another, at least to a certain extent.
First time I played thd at a friends xbox, I first tried one of the tutorials or an easy track. But right after I finished that 1st track, I jumped to inferno II. Being a "sequel" of the classic inferno made it hard for me to wait.
It took me about 80 faults to finish, which must be pretty good for someone who plays the game for the first time and inferno being as hard as it is. Second time took 40 faults. I think that record is still there too. My friend is not a fan of hard challenges.
The other tracks made sense too. I knew what it had to be done to beat them, I just had to figure out how it's best done in thd. It all felt familiar.
Also FatShady, welcome to t2se world. I like your dedication. Spending a couple of hours on a track is no biggie, but spending hours in a track while making hundreds of fault, definitely requires some mental skills. Most people would quit the game and some of them would never play again.
That's why the advice to new people always is to progressively reach the hard tracks. But since you're a thd player, I get it. So now go for diablo and ysnp!
Edit: Give the keyboard a shot. I bet it's (a lot) easier. Just give it a few minutes.
Thanks man, appreciate the pat on the back. I have always had a huge amount of respect for the Trials 2 guys simply because i know how hard the game is.Originally Posted by AkaM
The more i think about it, the mental toughness to deal with this level of frustration is what I think transferred most easily from THD to Trials 2. You know I wasnt even that frustrated when i hit the 1 hour limit.. I knew that i learnt a lot and next time it would be easier and it was.
Question, are these 'downloadable' tracks and if so, how do you get them. I have not figured this out? tbh not really looking forward to it. Judging by the number of faults on inferno, im not actually ready for these tracks and I really need to improve all other tracks first.Originally Posted by AkaM
No chance.. I tried and I was MUCH worse. 360 controller is the only way i can play this game.Originally Posted by AkaM
Yeah. 7 hours in and Inferno already under your belt... nicely done. I may have hit 50-100 hours before getting a 100+ fault run. Like AkaM said, most quit before then. I was close, but my brain kept drifting back again and again, saying 'surely you can beat it'. Even that first ramp is enough to discourage most.
The downloadable tracks, as far as I know, come with the game these days... I never had to download them. I hope someone can help you out with them, because without them you'll miss a great part of this game (including watching the great replays.)
Now what Redlynx(/ubisoft) has to do is release Evo on PC with directional controls enabledI'd pretty much sell my left arm to see the competition unfold. And yes, they have to put the stats on the web so that certain developers can scrape them and build stats tools.

MAN i am already hating you guys... its now 1.30am and I have to be up for work in 5 hours... BUT...
I just completed Diablo!
391 faults 51 minutes, on my first attempt. I did help that the first half of that track was the same as Diabolic from Trials HD... but still, that is two legendary tracks I can say Ive beaten...
Inferno and Diablo in 8 and a half hours total gameplay!!! This is awesome...
I know they are crappy times and faults but you know what its like to crack these for the first time!
YSNP i tried for about 10 minutes.. seriously, there is no way i can even do the start!!!:
Perhaps I should try to get all three under 10 hours???
I need sleep....
It has been really interesting to see how the same obstacles have been used in HD too... devs have been cheating a bit i think.. some very similar looking levels in parts. lol
I must say i'm impressed to of the toughest tracks in the game completed so quickly :O i think i had 55 hours before having the 3 big once beaten. YSNP is a biatch good luck with it:P
I tried THD at my brothers and even though it felt squishy it was very familiar, i got better times on all the tracks than my brother he got a bit pissed:P after a few easy tracks just figuring out how it worked i also went to the hard tracks, i 0 faulted the first had track in 3 tries or so. I think that its better than most first time players so skills are defiantly transferable, but to get the fast flawless runs i think you have to play a lot a lot even though playing one or the other before hand. E.g. i tried to nail one of the medium tracks and when i finally got a good run (i thought) i was rank like 12000th
Good luck fatshady hope you get ysnp before you get No Pain No Gain achievment ;P
Thanks, I might try YSNP this weekend but it does not look promising for me. Seriously those boxes at the start are insane.Originally Posted by Degn
I'll keep you posted. Thanks for all the support guys. Really dissapointed that I didnt get into T2SE when it came out, but i had never heard of it. It wasn't until THD that i realised how good these games are.
While this community is very small now, glad that you guys are still here so i have someone to chat to. For anyone who has not played this game,. including many of the THD regulars i chat with, they really dont understand how hard these tracks are.
Cheers,
