There's no one proper way to educate. It's mostly the individual. ONe classroom can breed a doctor and a bum.

Even if you're self-taught, the information you used was by someone else that learned from teachers. Everything you/we/the world learns is from teachers.

All the best books are outside of the school curriculum. Sure, you can call these people teachers but my initial argument was that schools suck. Hell, everyone is a teacher in some capacity.

Rereading this, it sounds to me like you are saying that everything we have today is indirectly because of the knowledge acquired in schools. Like R you kidding me? Seriously man, what are you on? ALL science was invented by highschool dropouts or independent learners who thought school was a hellhole. Einstein himself condemned schools, as do I. How about Bill Gates? John Carmack (Doom tech guy) is responsible for the 3D revolution in gaming. Both are university dropouts. These people invented. They didn't follow their ******ed school books. There is a skills shortage in every country in the developed world. Amorality is the new norm. You are disagreeing with amazing people like John Taylor Gatto, a teacher of 25 years and a master philosopher. Check him out on the web. I wonder if you are brave enough.

Most People think fire caused 3 skyscrapers to fall and pulverize at free-fall-speed. Half of everyone is fat and depressed. You cannot in any sanity or rationality argue that schools are contributing positively. And yeah, Hardkore Man, you make me feel special by calling me insane. Just shows my real worth, which you keep missing for reasons that have always been obvious to me.

And again, for reasons bizarre, you are ignoring the reality that people learn from books OUTSIDE of the school curriculum.

I think Star has a blind resentment towards any form of authority. The "man" wants to keep you down.

I didnt actually say you are insane, i said im beginning to think your crazy. You make such strong statements and have very little substance to back it up and still think that everyone else is missing the point..... and what may be obvious to you is not what comes across to others with the way you talk yourself up.....

I came across this when reading a blog by computer scientist Scott Aaronson hihgly recommend his blog -> really well written and interesting topics):

    http://www.scottaaronson.com/blog/?p=393#comments

"Venkatesan is a former instructor at Dartmouth College who’s announced that she’s suing the students in her freshman writing seminar for harassment because they (1) argued with her ideas, (2) asked too many impertinent questions about French critical theory and deconstructionism, (3) didn’t accord her sufficient respect as someone with both a Masters and a PhD, and (4) submitted poor teaching evaluations."
