Just like for anything else on the interwebs, I think a person should get a cut of the monies generated by replays. I put up a sick time, lots of replays, lots of money for RedLynx. Kick a small percentage back to whomever has the top time at the close of competition based on that. All the other replays for anyone else stays in house... just the champ gets a cut of their replays. This will keep the competition intense to put up those times early and often and generate even more money for RedLynx, no?
i do agree that something needs to be tweaked to benefit people not having to use as many replays.... i was thinking more along the lines of a penalty for buying a replay.... cuts 50 points off your total or something like that. That way you would only use one if it would gain you more than 50. I don't think the money thing will work because some people can't put in early times. I wake up 3 hrs after the start of the new level so that would suck for me.
I think we can definitely build on this idea though!
It's hard to hit top 10 now that everyone can copy TheRobz.
Hey how do you buy Diamonds? Do you have to get it down to 0?
Let's say I want to support RedLynx by purchasing diamonds.
Press the replay button. At the top left should be an image of a diamond, tap that.Originally Posted by PrgSkidmark
I like this idea. Right now, people use replays just like "whatever". There needs to be incentive to try and get a top time without using a replay.. either my punishing those who use replays, or by rewarding those who don't.Originally Posted by Millertime660
However, I think Rob is more so talking about those people who have a replay being watched by many others. Maybe for every 10 people that watch your replay, you get 1 point in the game? It's not actual money, but it is a type of "pay".
Why should you get money for a replay in a video game? LOL
Because whomever has the top replay is generating money for the company. I like getting paid for my efforts if someone else is too.
Go make a video game thenOriginally Posted by TheRobZ
yea....good luck with that lmao and how does a company get money for people watching leaderboard replays?? Says who? They get money when people watch a replay on Trials HD? I don't think so.
People have to buy diamonds to watch replays. Redlynx make money from selling diamonds. Therefore, the more replays people watch, the more money Redlynx makes...Originally Posted by Jarr3tt88
Rob... you're a good guy but I can't help but giggle at the sense of self entitlement that makes you think you we/should make money from playing 1000 Heroz. I also have to laugh at the notion that people should be penalised for utilizing what is a new revenue stream for Redlynx. Both thoughts are counter-intuitive when you consider that Redlynx is a company dependant on profit to create new games and content for us.
Think of it this way, they make a $1 game that gives 1000 days of play. Prior to it being released for free there were about 70k players in the high score tables.... let's say 100k to cater for people with out Game Centre accounts. That is $100k budget... which in reality amounts to sweet f*** all from a production perspective. They introduce a new revenue model to justify the production costs andassume) to try and achieve a profit that they wouldn't otherwise have.... and you want some of it?
I could only imagine the costs associated with setting up a system that actually allows people (all over the world) to get paid... and forget about the security work required to protect the game from gaming/cheating in order to prevent people from stealing profit share.
I get the logic that a profit share would increase player commitment... but really... it still will land with the few elite players and Redlynx is hardly going to distribute buck fifty cheques to the noobs that fluke a WR.
