calling all that are knowledgable: amplifiers/sound systems
So the other day, i was at band practice... and well my amp literally caught on fire. It was a digital piece of... you know where I'm going with that. Anyways, i need a new TUBE amp. I'm looking at this monster right now: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/guita...mbo-guitar-amp kinda on the edge of my budget. Does anyone know of an amplifier that is cheaper than this... 599... Also, from reviews clean channel "sucks" i definitely need a decent clean channel, with the power of this ones overdrive. Can anyone help me out?

Tube amps are typically more expensive. If you are budget minded you may want to look into a cheap practice amp and a line-6 box that will simulate the tube styles.
My friend Ben swears by Peavy, but my friend Clint hates them. I'm in the middle, but I've owned a 6 speaker Marshall stack before so I may be biased.

Only non-starter (piece of ...) amp I have any experience with is a Fender Hotrod Deluxe, but that's $700 on that site. Sounds AMAZING though

Like Shifty said, tube amps will generally run more expensive. There are many solid state amps that would probably suit your needs. Line 6 makes combo amps with amp modeling built right in. I have a little 10" line 6 spider that has some decent sounds for a practice amp.
For my main rig, I run a mesa/boogie dual rectifier into a Marshall 4x12, and couldn't be happier.
If you're budget allows, I would recommend a tube driven amp. But with amp modeling technology, many solid state amps sound just fine.

Yeah i think im going to end up buying the peavy vypyr 60 watt, its like 400 which is basically what i was wanting to spend. i had a line 6 spider before, i was getting tired of so artificial sounds it seemed to make anyways. Does anyone know what the vypyr sounds like?
