it looks likely that Trials Evolution wont be released until 2012. now as everyone except Starfire guessed the wrong year i thought about doing Round 2.

once again, the microsoft points were only going to someone who had the actual date correct.
whoever was 'closest to' would have been declared the winner but didnt win anything (because im not that generous)
but theres some obvious problems;

1) is it fair for Starfire?
2) a lot of people guessed november/december and we dont yet know that it is delayed til 2012.
3) if i leave round 2 until we do know that star was closest (could well be the latest guess of december) they will have probably announced the date anyway.

this isnt exactly too serious but i dont want people thinking ive been unfair etc. and i have had a think about these problems but id still like to hear what others have to say.
heres my 'solutions':

1) if we start round 2, star could be declared winner of round 1 for getting the year right (no prize) but she could also keep her guess of March 14th and take another guess aswell (same as everyone else). not only is s/he not losing out but actually has a better chance.

2) as we dont know for sure if it is coming in 2012, people would be welcome to keep their guess in 2011 should they want to.

3) if we leave the contest then i can keep the points (long as its not March 14th ), if we dont everyone gets another chance.

i will gladly put the 2100mspoints up for grabs again and i do like the idea of everybody having another go but im confused as to whether its a good idea.

I'm on the fence about this. I think you should wait til we know that it won't be a 2011 release. It wouldn't be fair to Starfire. Although the guesses were all made under the assumption that it was coming out this year. This is a tuffy, on second thought if it's released in 2012 just give the points to Starfire. I don't know if I trust that booth guy Dan, his info may be wrong. I mean he couldn't even 0 fault a medium track on the Evo demo and he was one of the xbox judges for the Big Thrills Contest.

star would only get the points if it was released march 14th regardless of whether it we do a second round or dont. as far as the prize goes, it doesnt affect starfire at all.

i agree though, im on the fence too.
but if enough people say do it then i will, at the end of the day its just a bit of fun

I say do it again, I could use the points as I just gave in to temptation and spent my Evo points on the Gears season pass ( yes I feel a mug now ).

I would say don't start a second round.

I would think the first round would continue until:
a) We know the actual release date.
b) The furthest guessed day passes.

It seems that would be the most fair for the people who have
guessed a day that hasn't come yet.

Instead of starting a new round, just let everyone put in a second guess. One guess for a date in 2011, one guess for a date for 2012... or two guesses for the same year if you're feeling confident. Nobody's left out and everybody gets a better shot at winning. Worst case scenario, the game is delayed into 2013 and you need to let people guess for a third time

wel its up to you, there your points and its just a bit of fun.

you could start a new thread and copy on all the days that have been guesed but not past and let 1 more guess per person.

it would be cool if you put lines through the guesses as days go passed so we can see the list get ever shorter ;p that would be fun.
