    iOS5

I have a feeling that Siri will become available for this of us with an iPhone 4. Its only in beta at the moment. I think once there's a general release it'll be available for everyone running iOS 5. (maybe not 3GS)

    Re: iOS5

I'm so lost in all this 3G 4G stuff, I try to keep up but i've had the same setup for like a year and a half on my iTouch 3G. I am getting an iPhone 4S for christmas though, and I believe that runs iOS5, but I've never jailbroken an iPhone before and I'm not sure how to approach attempting to. I definetley want to, I'm dependent on some of the apps I have from cydia now (iFile, iAP cracker, MxTube, dTunes, infinidock, definetely SBSettings). I just don't know how safe it is on the newest iPhone with the newest iOS, I've heard people have bricked their devices from doing it wrong.
I really just need to know if greenp0ison will still work or not, thats the one I used for my iTouch and it was as simple as pressing a button and putting my device in DFU mode.

    iOS5

At the moment it isn't possible to jailbreak an iPhone 4S. The iPhone Dev Team are working on it and have got some good results but they don't have a jailbreak that's ready for public release yet. I don't think it will be long until it is available though. Redsn0w is the name of the program which is used more commonly nowadays. That is just as simple as the old greenpoison though.

Michael Steeber said on his blog that Apple confirmed as much in response to a suggestion that Apple charge iPhone 4 owners for a special Siri upgrade. Apple’s response:

"Engineering has provided the following feedback regarding this issue: Siri only works on iPhone 4S and we currently have no plans to support older devices."

Siri has been successfully ported to an iPhone 4 and the Apple servers have been tricked into performing all the voice commands etc. I'm pretty sure someone has got it working on a 3GS too. They are definitely capable of running the software. Apple just want people to buy the new phone.

Here is a video of Siri working on an iPod touch 4G.

As far as I know it would be possible for the developers who did this to release a Cydia package allowing Siri to work but they would be in breach of copyright so they're not going to release it.

I think it will be available somehow in the future to older devices. Maybe when Siri is out of it's beta stage.

Yeah, I know it has been ported already, but that is just what I found as a somewhat official word from apple.

    Re: iOS5

After facing some pretty massive problems with my jb'd 4.2.8 Verizon FW, I needed to restore to, well, restore core functionality to my iDevice.

This meant forgoing 5.0.0 and installing 5.0.1 as Apple has quit signing 5.0.0. Does this mean I won't be able to JB in the near future? Yes. It only annoys me because I enjoyed having 5 icons on my dock (FiveIconDock) and being allowed to place an infinite amount of icons in a folder nfinifolders). As well as place my icons in rows of five (FiveIconSpringBoard) and in whatever pattern I want (GridLock).

Other than that, the new features are pretty good. I like the Notification Center. I wish Apple would recognize my Apple ID, when I restored it kept telling me that it wasn't available so I set it up as a new device. I will have to tie it to my ID later. This means (currently) none of my games, or Tapatalk, are currently installed on my phone.

    *sigh*
