They are a business, they are there to make money. If you don't like their practices you don't have to buy their games....If they know people will buy the extra content, why not make it? Smart business.
Sure it does suck, but I'd rather have the opportunity to expand a games replayability for cheap if I can get the value out of it.
Doubt it, unless you play Rock Band/Guitar Hero? lolOriginally Posted by ChicagoAJ

Traditionally DLC has been content created additionally after the game's shipped. Since Resi 5 ( maybe even before ) some have been including DLC on the disc that you basically pay to unlock later. I think this is some shabby business personally and a slippery slope that only leads to bad places for us gamers.
Which company will be first to decide our 40 quid/60 dollars is only enough to pay for campaign and they want extra for multiplayer for example.
Oh and just like XPro I'll no doubt buy all the Gears DLC as I can't help myself but I do feel pretty conflicted about it![]()
I disagree. In the video game industry the costs of making games continues to grow, and game companies need to do something to make more money.
I understand that with pre-owned purchases video game companies don't see any of that money. How do you expect to see a company in business if your money isn't going to them at all?
And games are so huge and long now. A person can spend 50 hours on pretty much any game now if they really like the game. That is what you call value for money.
This. Especially a game like Gears or Halo.....Originally Posted by Starfire999

There is a right and wrong way to make DLC.
Redlynx did a magnificant job with the trials DLC. Grand Theft Auto had some amazing DLC as well. These provided a lot of new content for a reasonable price.
Making games that come with the content already on the disk and having you pay to unlock it is dishonerable and greedy.
Paying 15 bucks for 2 or 3 multiplayer maps is also disgusting. Its the biggest reason I havnt played any shooters since back when Halo 3 was still new.
Its sad that the big companies are trying to kill the used game scene. I guess eventually used games will be in the past, with games heading towards downloading the game instead of retail.
Yeah they are running a business, you have to be profitable to be a business. But this is truly killing videogames I think. Look at what Activision has done with Tony Hawk. "The game made money! We need a sequal every 10 months!" They are doing the same thing with Call of Duty and they did it with Guitar hero. They are running all their franchises into the ground. Nobody wants to take a chance on creative and new concepts.
Not gonna complain bout Gears3. I even like their idea of a season pass, buy DLCs altogether cheaper than individually- ideal for the diehard gearshead. I certainly get more than my moneys worth from the game (just like THD). The only thing i think is silly is the weapon skins bundle- 3600 msp for all skins. Ive only bought like 2 skins separately because i had a few points left so why not.
I so agree with you on that one. As soon as I see a game I can almost always name you 4 other games that are absolutley the same because the original was good. But the original was "ORIGINAL"!Originally Posted by jook13

Trails Evo was not made in 10 months
Hope that shows.
None of you people defending these organisations take into account WE ALREADY PAYED FOR THAT PIECE OF CONTENT WHEN BE PURCHASED THE DISK. When buying a disk you expect you own everything on it, but now game developers are just selling you back sections of the disk you already bought.
