funny fact, thats actually mostly the chinese people who have 17 children, china actually passed a law saying you could only have 2 childrenOriginally Posted by xPrOFeSsi0NaL
To be serious for a second, there was a tv program on few nites ago and some science bloke said if the POP keeps rising like it is, by 2050 there won't be enough land to grow enough food to feed the world...
A way round it was to scrap all farms.. ie cows, sheep, pigs etc and grow lentils instead, because you get x6 the protein from the land area....
So screw your hot dogs and steaks.. and get ready to suck up lentil soup in your old age...
Our kids will be in real trouble...
Well, that would increase the population in our time dramaticly, unless everybody is gettin' ate up by dinosaurs.Originally Posted by sipe![]()
But infact, the more people live on this planet, the worse it gets for everybody. But what can you blame families from poor countries for? They get like 15 children because they are there life insurance if they're older.
It's just a fact though that the earth will sooner or later not be capable of feeding as many people as there are on the planet, which will lead into wars and hunger.
For example, the oil reserves are getting smaller and will soon be used up. The oil that we still have becomes more expensive so the only way for poorer countries to "survive" is to attack a different country that has oil...iraq!
Make an educated guess why there are still so many soldiers in iraq, it's not because anybody really cares what's going to happen to the civilation.
500 years ago you started a war to gain honor, maybe specific terretories. Today you start wars to kick-start the economy and to get resources of any kind. That said, live a happy life!![]()

You make some interesting points JJ.
These statistics that I saw a while ago as part of my degree are so incredibly revealing, yet so avoided by media and anyone in any position of power.

Basically, violence; crime; teenage births; obesity; drug abuse and more are vastly higher in countries with more income inequality.
Which is why America and UK have so much crime and problems, compared to finland, sweden etc.
The cost of food rises, and meat is very expensive, the farmers get told by the supermarkets how much there stock is worth.. and that's just the price of a field...
If you had skyscrapers ( giant skyscrapers) big enough to house livestock and artificial sunlight and the water pumps on 24h a day, and the giant lifts to transport the livestock a steak would cost 1000000 pounds...
Land is the issue![]()
Yes in theory you could grow crops in said skyscrapers but the cost would be so high we couldn't afford a bag of peas
Lmao Raistlin, can you imagine livestock in a skyscraper??
Don't think that would work, but all your fruits and vegtables could be in one and transported easily. The initial setup would be very expensive, but the actual running of it wouldnt be that much at all.
Heck, you could do this in smaller buildings in big cities, completely cut out the middle man and you would save on all of the transport costs. Would be very efficient.
Technically you could do this in the middle of africa, I guess it's just too expensive to do it though and the investment wouldn't get a return.
By far the biggest problem is not having enough money to do any of this stuff. The world is in debt to itself..![]()
There's loads of cost effective hydoponically grown veg on the market now, the most expensive part of any hydro operation is the lighting. Most commercial grows are in greenhouses with lighting only used supplementally.
