I hate to break it to you, but this is incorrect. Ableton Live and FL Studio are both very powerful programs and I'm not even going to start arguing about which is better, but I will say that they are both fully capable of automation and live recording. Personally I use FL Studio and I do a ton of stuff with external MIDI controllers; recording live performances, both playing melodies on a MIDI keyboard and tweaking parameters on a MIDI controller with knobs and sliders.Originally Posted by bDIdol
Recording live audio on the other hand FL can do, but it's a bit weak in that area. If you have a full band and you want to record drums, guitar, bass, vocals, etc all on different tracks with different effects simultaneously or whatever then you don't want to use FL. Pro Tools is the way to go for live music.
If anyone has any good trance, chillout, ambient, feel free to post it.![]()
My CollectionOriginally Posted by Starfire999
Feel free to browse through it and look at my ratings. If something interests you, I encourage you to support the artist and purchase it. In the world of electronic music the DJs are overrated and make all the money, while even "successful" artists make barely anything.
It saddens me that it has become the norm these days to just pirate and steal music because it's so easy. Just because it's easy to do doesn't make it the right thing to do. By pirating music all people do is encourage artists to stop producing to go out and get a "real job" to make a living.
For the record, I actually OWN everything in my collection linked above - either on CD or paid download. The only exceptions are a handful of the items in my collection which were put out as free promotional releases and cannot actually be purchased even if you want to pay money for them.
I paid for everything in my collection not because I'm too stupid to google an artist or album name coupled with "torrent", but because I want to support the artists I like and encourage them to keep writing more music in the future.
To be perfectly honest, one of the reasons I don't write music anymore is exactly this. I don't expect everyone to pay for my music... heck, I don't even expect 10% of my listeners to spend money on it, but it's literally NO ONE who will actually support artists anymore.
Here's a page where you can download my latest EP for free legitimately.
6,284 downloads, Rated 84.17% with 72 votes, 16 comments; all very positive. I'd say this is pretty good!
Here's the same release on CD.
How many of those 6,284 people were willing to actually pay money for music they enjoyed? ONE. That's right, I've sold ONE CD... and it was an old high-school friend of mine who bought it to support me.
I never expected to make a living from my music at all, and I've always kept my day job, but that ratio just sickens me. 1/6,284. I don't even care about the money, I'd just like to know that there are at least a handful of people out there who care enough to spend a measly $10 to listen to music they enjoy, but no, that's not how it works anymore. People just expect all music to be free.
I'm not writing this to ***** and moan about my own musical situation, but rather to make a general point.
My point is simple: Support the artists you like - encourage them to not give up on writing music.
Honestly Mal that's a crying shame mate, I can fully appreciate how that ratio would sicken you.
Given me some food for thought.
Yeah, society needs a drastic overhaul. When people have a skyscraper of debt above their heads, motivation to spend comes slowly.
^^
That's a somewhat relevant point in this economy... but think about this:
How much money do you spend per week on other "unnecessary" things like coffee, alcohol, eating out, etc.
Even people who are struggling financially don't hesitate to spend money on things like this, but they still won't pay for music.
Sure, I agree. (somewhat relevant post)
There are many reasons. My no. 1 fear is I'll be on the street one day, and so I spend an absolute minimum.
i fully hear you mal! stick with it though your a talented producer, you never know what might happen![]()
this one still gets me, the progression in this is nothing sort of genius. the amount of different, complimenting sounds and how they all build up together. sounds incredible. to me anywayOriginally Posted by Starfire999![]()
